Russia's bare-knuckle policy on oil
The Washington Times ^ | November 23, 2008 | William F. Shughart II

If President-elect Barack Obama and his top advisers learn nothing else from Russia's invasion and occupation of South Ossetia this summer it should be that Moscow aspires to be an energy superpower.

Russia already is the world's second-largest producer of oil, pumping nearly 10 million barrels a day, and is the largest supplier of natural gas. Like all energy-exporting countries, Russia benefited enormously from the run-up in prices over the last decade. Every $1 increase in the price of a barrel of oil transferred about $1 billion into Russia's state budget. As a result, Russian foreign exchange reserves grew from $12 billion in 1999 to $470 billion at the end of last year, a balance equaled only by such countries as China, India and the Middle East oil producers.

And the fact that we sat there sitting on our hands for all those years allowing our enemies to amass great wealth at our expense is an unspeakable crime.

The no drill crowd has cost this country dearly.

Russia won't be laughing too much once the Chinese decide to take a quarter of their country.

There won't be enough Russians left to stop them.

Chinas population is growing in spite of their 'one child' policy. They'll soon have 25 or 30 million unmarried men in their twenties. Russia will have...drunk 45 year old men.

Good by Siberia.

Think where Russia would be today IF we had left Saddam in power and all her ‘oil’ contracts signed under UN Oil for rotten Food scam were still in effect.

Thanks to Obama and Biden, we will freeze in the coming years as those idiots grow windmills instead of nukes and coal.

And blame us for the problem the entire time.

“allowing our enemies to amass great wealth at our expense”

The same may be said of George Soros.
