Russian president sees Obama flexible on missile defense

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Sunday he believed US president-elect Barack Obama could change Washington's position over a hotly contested plan for a US missile defense shield in Eastern Europe.

Asked if he saw a chance of a shift on the issue under Obama, Medvedev told reporters: "I think there are chances, because if the position of the current administration on this question looks extremely inflexible, the position of the president-elect looks more careful."

Striking a positive note about relations with the next US administration, Medvedev referred to the Obama team's refusal so far to establish its position on missile defense, after Poland claimed the matter was already decided and the project would go ahead.

"It shows at least our future American partners are thinking about this.

"They don't have a once-and-for-always prepared template for solving this problem.

"It means dialogue is possible.... A change of position is possible," Medvedev said.

The Russian leader was speaking at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Lima, at which he met US President George W. Bush on Saturday.

Obama foreign policy can be summed up in one word: SURRENDER to our enemies and anyone who challenges the US and our right to self defense.

Makes you wonder whose side he is on, does't it?

What a Single Nuclear Warhead Could Do
Why the U.S. needs a space-based missile defense against an EMP attack.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122748923919852015.html

.....

But as terrible as that scenario sounds, there is one that is worse. Let us say the freighter ship launches a nuclear-armed Shahab-3 missile off the coast of the U.S. and the missile explodes 300 miles over Chicago. The nuclear detonation in space creates an electromagnetic pulse (EMP).

Gamma rays from the explosion, through the Compton Effect, generate three classes of disruptive electromagnetic pulses, which permanently destroy consumer electronics, the electronics in some automobiles and, most importantly, the hundreds of large transformers that distribute power throughout the U.S. All of our lights, refrigerators, water-pumping stations, TVs and radios stop running. We have no communication and no ability to provide food and water to 300 million Americans.

This is what is referred to as an EMP attack, and such an attack would effectively throw America back technologically into the early 19th century

On the positive side, we won’t have to worry about our industries and people causing global warming (sarc)

It looks like the EU will get what it wanted — all of Europe under one language — Russian — and one currency (including England) — the Ruble.

Europe is finally, *finally*, going to get what it deserves. I am sorry for all the decent folks who are going to suffer, but really, Europe has earned slavery. We shouldn’t stand in their way any longer. They hate GWB, and love Obama. Eat it, commies.

Last week, I heard a college professor go off on a tangent about this. He basically said missle defense is useless and stupid because it doesn’t work. Is that true?

On day one Putin and Chavez will mug bambi, steal his I-pod, throw him to the ground and violate him in front of the world...what will he do? Nothing.

Is your college professor stupid and useless? Probably.
Liberals arguing that missile defense is useless because it doesn't guarantee 100 percent capability of success is comparable to saying condoms are useless because there's no 100 percent guarantee they'll prevent conception. In both cases, there's zero percent chance of them working if they're not deployed.

Thank the 52% of the Electorate who allowed themselves to remain ignorant enough to swallow the Obama / Media Kool-Aid.

Add in a big dose of Bush Derangement Syndrome and a Republican Candidate that offered nothing to the masses and Voila, Barack Hussein Obama is running the Country.

And we wonder where Hitler came from. Geez...

“Flexible” as in spineless. The morons in the electorate have chosen a wimp.

flexible = “I can walk all over this guy”

Notice that he does NOT say that RUSSIA is flexible.... he’s not yielding one millimeter, he’s expecting Obambi to fold like a cheap suit.

“The morons in the electorate have chosen a wimp.”

Obama is no wimp, he will stand up to Republicans and anyone who tries to save the US.

He has plenty of spine, he is just applying it to help our enemies destroy us, instead of defending the US.

A real “Manchurian candidate”. Our enemies can’t destroy us from the outside, but they can easily do so from the inside — with Obama’s and the Dems’fine leadership.
