Suspect, out on bond, charged again with rape

Durham, N.C. — A man accused of raping a former Duke student last year is in jail again, charged with the same crime against a different woman.

The first victim's father says the new charge could have been prevented if bond had been set higher in the case involving his daughter.

Michael Jermaine Burch was charged in February 2007 with the second-degree rape of a Duke freshman in a bathroom during a party at a residence at 405 Gattis St.

After getting out of jail on a $50,000 bond, Burch was arrested again Nov. 14 on charges of second-degree rape, first-degree sex offense and felony aiding and abetting.

Note, this is NOT the Duke lacrosse case.

But while THAT case was ongoing, a black youth was accused of raping a white Duke student at a frat party.

He was let out on bond, and the case received very little coverage (no satellite trucks).

While on bond, he is now accused of raping another woman.

Of course he has the presumption of innocence unless he is ultimately proven guilty.

But note the disparity between the coverage given the lacrosse case, and this one.

(And note that there is no outrage from feminists, Duke professors, civil libertarians, nor anyone else who professed to be so concerned with the lacrosse “non-rape”).

This has nothing to do with the amount of the bond.

The problem is with a slow justice system that is still waiting to try this man after arresting him over a year ago.

“Get a rope.”

Not if he’s not guilty.

But where are the feminists, the marchers, the university gang of 88, the talking heads?

Either they care about rape, or else they don’t; in which case they exploited the false claims of a stripper just
in order to advance their agendas.

And the issue of rape, per se, means nothing to them.

They only care about PC crimes, where the races are reversed.

Noted. And I'm not at all surprised by the non-coverage. The News Media is beyond contempt. They are scum of the earth. I seen this happen time and time again. And it doesn't just happen in Durham, N.C. It happens everywhere. The people who bring you the news are without shame. A pox on them all.

You don’t get it, folks. Black on white rape, murder, robbery is NOT news. News is what we say it is. News is just another way to advance our narratives, in this case that of of oppressed minorities who are perpetual victims of a racist society.

Oh, I get it. The problem is that we don't unite against such abuse. Unless and until we do, the situation will continue.

Where is Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?

Where is the NYT story on page 1?

Where is the “outcry” in the media?

I wonder if this would lead to retaliatory hate crimes. It would be sad if it did, but not surprising.
