Reid: Comprehensive Immigration Reform Will Come Early (Amnesty to "Easily" Pass)
Weekly Standard ^ | November 25, 2008 | Brian Faughnan

Posted on 11/25/2008 9:43:25 AM PST by GOPGuide

Harry Reid told the Detroit Free Press that he expects comprehensive immigration reform to be passed relatively early in the next Congress:

Q. With more Democrats in the Senate and the House and a Democrat in the White House, how do you see congressional efforts playing out on such issues as health care and immigration?

A: On immigration, there's been an agreement between (President-elect Barack) Obama and (Arizona Republican Sen. John) McCain to move forward on that. ... We'll do that. We have to get this economy stuff figured out first, so I think we'll have a shot at doing something on health care in the next Congress for sure.

Q: Will there be as much of a fight on immigration as last time?

A: We've got McCain and we've got a few others. I don't expect much of a fight at all. Now health care is going to be difficult. That's a very complicated issue. We debated at great length immigration. People understand the issues very well. We have not debated health care, so that's going to take a lot more time to do.

One senator who wields significant influence on the debate is Robert Menendez, and he seems to be pushing ahead on the issue as well. Menendez is no extremist among Senate Democrats, either; he's just been named head of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee. Expect Menendez to lead a push--apparently with Reid's blessing--to get comprehensive reform passed in the first half of 2009. Proponents will argue that while the measure may be unpopular, it's better to swallow a bitter pill far in advance of the midterms. And if it seems that they lack the votes to pass it in the next few months, they'll bargain for a commitment for passage later in 2009.

Well, I better brush up on my Spanish to start with...

Maybe we could make a deal ...for every wetback entering the US, we get to send 2 Senators and 20 congress critters back to Mexico to let them help Mexico deal with their own problems instead of letting Mexico ship them to US!

Looks like we're screwed as a country. The invasion is about to succeed and be blessed by the socialist RATS. Not that McCain was worth a bucket of warm spit on this issue anyway.

This was coming no matter who got elected.
I believe John McCain actually believes this is good for America. I’m not sure that the Democrats see this as anything other than getting more Democrat voters.

SO the democRATS are going to grant amnesty and that will be the final nail in the coffin of the Republican Party and the last act of treason by the democRATS to finally kill off this once great nation.

America RIP. It was great while it lasted.

“Q: Will there be as much of a fight on immigration as last time?

This is a big part of why McCain lost. This issue matters to people and voters are smart enough to know that McCain thinks Democrat on it. Had he won he’d be pushing shamnesty too.

When this issue was on the front burner the American people stood up and stopped it. However, it was never mentioned during the election and now, with the “unprecedented economic crisis of all time ever” grabbing all the attention, this is getting rammed through in record time.

We could get to the point were anyone walking over the border will be sworn as a citizen (in Spanish, of course) and given a voter registration card with state and address blank, to be filled in later (in Spanish, of course).

So let me get this straight - America is losing jobs and they want to import illegals to displace the American worker?

"Reid: Comprehensive Immigration Reform Will Come Early (Amnesty to "Easily" Pass)"

So, we're going to give "amesty" to all of these illegals...does that mean automatic citizenship too?

Does that mean that they walk in to our country, where we have spent a lifetime working and building our lives, families and fortunes, and they just starting benefiting from our work?

With all the crap that is already happening, when this comes to pass it will just about be time for Atlas to Shrug.

They can't give them benefits if they don't have any money to do it with. If we can't vote them out, maybe we can starve them out with an underground economy.

Time to liquidate and cut spending to the bone...spending is the life blood of a capitalist society, and a big source of tax revenue.

All politics are local. Spending cutbacks at the state and local level will then force them to ask the feds for another bailout...after all "57 states" put their hands out, the feds will go belly up.

Just a theory, but ain't it fun....

Yup. The thing that made American great - free enterprise with people willing to work hard and reap the benefits of their efforts - won't even be a memory. (Thanks to our education system.)
