...former NSA Zbigniew Brzezinski...penned...[that this]"would dissipate much of the appeal of Hezbollah and Hamas, dependent as it is on the Palestinians' plight. It would change the region’s psychological climate, putting Iran back on the defensive and putting a stop to its swagger."

It is quite beyond my comprehension why anyone would, as most of the MSM do, refer to Brzezinski as a "realist." Those of us who were around back then recall his advice to Carter regarding the Iranian situation. It was nothing less than to invade Iran. Carter vetoed the idea in favor of a surrender which was, in the event, nearly as bad a policy. But Carter isn't helping Obama form his foreign policy and Brzezinski is.

As far as this recommendation for an outright, unilateral retreat, I can only marvel that anyone takes it seriously. "Yeah, that'll show 'em all right" is the attitude of a ham-fisted tyro, not a "realist." What it will show them is that inveterate, shameless, murderous violence works if applied long enough and that it is likely to work again if continued.

Ah yes: to repeat the conspicuous success NATO troops achieved in bringing peace in Srebenica, for example, or Rwanda, or Lebanon?

I thought it was U.N. troops who were in Rwanda during the genocide, not Nato troops.

Obama is executing to the plan. He has excellent advisors. He has shown discipline, and a careful tongue. There is much to be admired in him.
