Mexico to UN: Army will slowly leave drug fight

MEXICO CITY — Mexico says its army will eventually leave the fight against drug trafficking.

But officials did not set a firm date for the start of the withdrawal.

The promise was made Thursday in the government's human rights progress report to the United Nations.

Mexico argues it must use soldiers in its nationwide crackdown on the drug trade because police are still too corrupt to take over the battle.

Didn’t we just give these horrible neighbors a billion dollars to combat drug trafficking? With no oversight how it was spent? This turned out just about how I expected it would. Time to start our own war.

If they wait for the police to not be corrupt, they’ll be there forever.

“Army will slowly leave drug fight”.
Nobody bothered to state which side they were on anyhow.
Considering the number of incursions onto US soil by persons dressed as Mexican soldiers, I don’t really think it matters if they leave the fight.

The Merida Initiative. Don’t think they’ve released any funds yet.

Reminds me of the WW2 German joke about their Italian allies: “If we guard the Alpine passes alone we will require 10 divisions, but with Italian help, we will need 20 divisions...”

The United Nations IS a Human Rights abuse...and abuser.

Congo; Rwanda; Uganda; East Timor; Sudan; Indonesian tsunami areas; Iraq/Oil-For-Food; 60 years of “over-seeing Palestine”; and the list is far, far from complete.

Good lord...the UN would rather have drugs invading the West and eroding communities and destroying families while they protect the rights of the inhuman scumbag cartels than have the Mexican army rough a few of them up? Sounds like their protection of the islmafacsists of the world. The UN needs to go, even violently if that what it takes.

In Mexico, common people have no rights. Their votes don’t matter and they are not allowed to defend themselves in their own homes since they can’t own firearms. Only criminals have guns. Result? Kidnappings are rampant and murderers and burglars commit their crimes with impunity. Western civilization is changing and a similar situation may gradually emerge in the US if the left has its way.

Mexico would probably have a revolution if it wasn’t for the fact that they didn’t have a safety-valve for the discontented to go by the millions.

It will only emerge in the US if we allow it. Our founding fathers let us bear arms. At some point, we’ll have to make the choice as to whether we use them or not. If we use them, no one can defeat us.
