So, you are saying we just completely give up, throw it in the trash and be governed at the will of whichever tyrant is running the government according to whatever rules they see fit?

Not quite.

68 million US citizen voters chose Electors for President and Vice-President pledged to vote for Obama and Biden, respectively. This represented a clear majority of all voters.

On December 15, 2008, the body charged with the responsibility of electing the President and the Vice President will assemble, and in all probability will elect Obama and Biden.

On January 5, 2009, the democratically-elected legislature known as Congress will assemble, count the votes in public, and entertain challenges. I have no doubt whatsoever that at least 90 Senators and at least 400 Representatives will endorse the election of Obama and Biden.

Now, whatever you think of the outcome, this process is not "being governed at the will of whichever tyrant is running the government according to whatever rules they see fit".

The lesions on the body politic which have led to this outcome are many, and of long standing. They cannot be cured or even arrested by an appeal to the one branch of the government which has nothing whatsoever to do with elections.

I agree with everything you’ve stated. Right, wrong or indifferent (I happen to believe the circumstances of Obama’s birth are questionable at best), I don’t believe any court will take up this case.

Having said that, it would have been really interesting if the State of HI had declared Obama’s COLB either a phony or even if it had just stated that there were some inconsistencies in the document.

The Constitution didn’t really provide any mechanism for remedy in this case. I’m sure this will be a topic of conversation in law schools for many, many years.

I wonder what Arnold is thinking. If he runs, who can tell him he can’t?

No...I think you might have missed the context of the original post by goldstategop...

My point is that we are either a nation of laws, or we are not.

If we are (as I contend we at least should TRY to be) then we have to adhere to what is outlined in the Constitution, and if it should be changed, there is a lawful way to change it.

goldstategop said we haven’t followed the Constitution for a while, so why start trying now...and that was my response.

It is Obama who has imposed his will by refusing to publically prove his eligibility, and (as a matter of fac) refuses to engage in any act of self-definition regarding his past, including school and medical records.

Further, by promulgating what has been judged a forgery by several people, Obama has set the stage to take the office by fiat - because he refuses to disclose probative information regarding who and/or what he is.

Just my $.02.
