Sarah Palin: A digital superstar
Politico ^ | Nov. 29, 2008 | Charles Mahtesian

Three weeks after the Republican ticket suffered a sweeping defeat at the polls, Sarah Palin continues to dominate search engine queries, cable news and online video sites.

The only American politician who generates comparable interest is President-elect Barack Obama. No one else is close.

Palin was the most popular Lycos search from the week she joined the ticket continuously through last Sunday, some two weeks after the election, when she was dethroned by Paris Hilton, the celebutante whom John McCain famously compared to Barack Obama.

The Alaska governor now ranks fourth, just one spot below Obama, on the weekly Lycos 50 list.

“People are still searching for her in record numbers,” said Kathy O’Reilly, a spokeswoman for Lycos. “How bizarre is that?

It is also possible that Palin allowed McPain to make her into another Quayle, as Quayle allowed the Bushes to do to him. She, like Quayle, will be hence unelectable in the future. Quayle even left IN as well as politics.

I think the real news here is that people still use Lycos.

I looked at that and said “Lycos”? I thought they were long gone.

No that isn’t possible, the most popular Governor in America is a natural born leader that actually relishes fighting, that is how she rose to the top in her state, beating all of the good old boys and a corrupt party.

It should be clear to everyone by now that Governor Palin is no Dan Quayle, he was a nice guy and a good conservative, but he was only average (or normal) in his ability to deal with a hostile national press, Palin is an exceptional political warrior that emboldens all conservatives and she offers strength and energy that will invigorate even her fellow republican competition.

I like Bobby Jindal a lot, and I think that he and his political efforts (and the other young conservative hopefuls) will benefit greatly by having Palin in the mix, she will help keep the old rino dogs from keeping the conservatives down and disorganized.

“sweeping defeat”

i have a county by county map here I printed from a FR post with each county colored red or blue. It reveals clearly that mostly the populous urban centers were in red while most of the country red. Sure they did win, but certainly not in a “sweeping” fashion. It is a mostly red country area-wise, but we don't vote by county.

“Landslide” pertained to electoral votes won. I have always been uneasy with applying “landslide” to electoral vote—unless it was accompanied by a significant individual “vote for” advantage.

Did the Palin daughter ever marry the young man? I read that she was really resisting her mother’s request.

Garbage. Who wrote that? Newsweek or Enquirer?

The couple was already engaged, her fiance has her name tatooed on his finger. They were going to marry already before the story of her pregnancy broke. Don't buy the media screeching.

Bristol and Levi are planning to marry in mid 2009.

The baby is due soon. Sarah wished that they marry before the birth of the child.

I can’t for the life of me understand why people still feel the desire to compare her to Quayle. The similarities end at both being Republican VP nominees that got killed by the press.

To diminish her and to marginalize her in the minds of the voters is the goal of the Left. It is a vain hope of the Left that somehow SP will go away and leave the field entirely to Obama. Something tells me that SP feels that she has a score to settle with Obama in 2012 and that she may feel that she has a rendezvous with destiny then. Time will tell.

As I'm not a member of either family it's none of my business so I can't help you with this important query.

In the next few years I expect Palin to hone her skills with the national press. What did her in were the sliced and diced Gibson and Couric interviews. She will be come more savvy and will be a Republican superstar in the near future. I can't wait!

Glad you are focusing on the main issues.

And the marriage was the fiance’s request - he’s the one that popped the question and put the ring on her finger. Maybe you should look up how that sort of thing works.

hmmm... I really like Sarah and I love her family. I would think she is a fantastic gov for Alaska with an 80% approval rating...

However, I don’t think this continued fascination with her is necessarily good for our party. It strikes me as very much the same kind of worship that Obama received, a true Cult of Celebrity.

She has a long way to go to make herself a viable candidate. Mainly that would be the need to think faster on her feet in debates and interviews. And that may be very doable. She is obviously a very bright woman. The charm thing she has down.. Now she just needs to bone up on the issues and debating skills.

Meanwhile, we have Bobby Jindal who IS ready.

I get what the left is doing and the motivation for it. What I don’t get is posters here who keep repeating the nonsense. Although it’s likely they too have another agenda.

Which debate has she not won in her life, I put her in the upper level of republican politicians as a debater already.

Biden is an old political warhorse and her debate with him was her first on the national scene and her score ranges from tie to win.

Look at video of Palin debating in Alaska and compare it to something like this.
