Did Willkie or Dewey point out how FDR killed private initiative? I don’t remember reading what they said, other than “Me Too!”

You’re right, Harding was better than FDR, and Coolidge beat FDR for V.P. on the Harding ticket. Harding at least understood his own limitations better than later holders of the office. And Harding had the lowest “misery index” of them all.

“I was treated as a kind of child movie star. My sister was too. We were both given nicknames by the press – Buzzy and Sistie – with our every move closely followed by the American people. I guess an analogy would be with how the British press is fascinated with William and Harry today. I have to say though that it was totally fascinating to live in the rarefied atmosphere of the White House for the simple reason that there was always something going on. The servants, the secret service, the staff of FDR - I loved every moment of it. More often than not I was the focus of attention, which I very much enjoyed – for in truth I too was a Prince in all but name.”

At some level the Roosevelt children greatly resented the public Eleanor, who cared so deeply for the needs of her friends and for complete strangers. Her grandson, Curtis Roosevelt, says, “My mother and uncles felt that my grandmother had not given to them that which she was capable of giving to people outside.”

One “good” thing about FDR: he took good care of his mother.

Even ol’ “Me Too-er” Ev Dirksen felt compelled in the 1952 convention in Chicago to lecture Dewey about the road to defeat in 1944 and 1948.

FDR is the asswipe that started this country down the road it’s on today; the LAST thing we need is another FDR - but I think we got one...

“Tell everyone you talk to that FDR extended the depression until the war ended it!”

I can tell people about the first part. As for the second part, wars don’t end depressions. They’re a huge waste of resources, economically speaking.

Lefty Brian Williams was one of the Messiah VP candidates ! Need I say anymore about his dedication to the Messiah’s Marxist Message !

I heard Charlie Rose state that Tom Brokaw -- to Tom Brokaw -- that Brokaw was on the VP list. IIRC, he stated that Brokaw was on the "short list."

Brian Williams was on the VP list as well?

“FDR fooled a lot of people, but Joe Stalin fooled FDR AND CHURCHILL, didn’t he?”

No! Not Churchill, at least; there just wasn’t much he could do about the situation. FDR could have done something, but he put too much faith in his communist handlers. Then his brain died about a year before the rest of his body, and we lived with the consequences during a period known as “The Cold War.”

Brian Williams: ‘Could We Use a Little FDR Right About Now?’

No.

FDR’s policies prolonged Depression by 7 years, UCLA economists calculate:

“And Harding had the lowest “misery index” of them all.”

That may be. But I haven’t see the misery index prior to 1948:
