A gun is worth 1,000 pictures
WorldNetDaily ^ | December 01, 2008 | Doug Powers

The quote from Sebastian D'Souza, the photographer and picture editor for the Mumbai Mirror who snapped a photo seen around the world of one of the terrorists in India last week, said it all: "I only wish I had a gun, not a camera."

One can only imagine that a photojournalist saying he wished he had a gun instead of a camera makes the sphincters of many "journalists" and other assorted forever-neutral members of the Fifth Estate slam closed faster than the shutter on D'Souza's camera, but an important point is made: Unless we as citizens are able to defend ourselves on a massive yet individual basis, we will never be able to stop a massive attack by crazed individuals. Waiting for police or the Army to show up with mops and buckets is an unacceptable strategy in fighting terrorists.

One thing is certain: Mass terrorist slaughters like the one in Mumbai could happen in the United States. That something similar and on such a grand scale hasn't happened yet isn't for lack of trying on the part of terrorists. As many mass shootings in the U.S. have demonstrated to us (and unfortunately to terrorists as well), our citizens are horrendously unprepared and untrained for a terrorist attack like the one in India last week. And by "trained," I mean more than just to dial 9-1-1 and eke out a prayer before being shot.

But what steps will the U.S. government take to ensure the safety of the general population in coming days in light of recent events? Probably to somehow regulate "Black Friday" to see to it that nobody else gets trampled to death at Wal-Mart.

The measures that need to be taken to prevent a Mumbai-style terrorist attack in the United States will not be taken at the...

Desert Eagle is also gas operated. You have to use plated or jacketed bullets to avoid fouling the gas system.

More specifically, an AK sans magazine. An unloaded weapon. SOB should have been dead-right-there.

Largest S&W I own is a 45 Colt Hunter from Performance shop. I use garretts in it for a while and it was tooooooooo hot for the n-frame. I own redhawk rugers, and a Linebaugh 500 Bisley built on a ruger. But I think my next effort will be a 454/45 super redhawk. Let Bowen do an action job for me, maybe tweek this or that and use that as a all round accessory while wheeling in dangerous game regions.

These POS losers were tag teaming with the buddy system. One never went black without the other covering. Someone taught em a few things.

Isn't that an 'alleged' terrorist carrying that gun?

Actually, I think he's a Romulan!

All very well and good, but how many of us practice what we preach by refusing to patronize businesses that bar concealed carry on their premises and canceling subscriptions to anti-american papers such as the NYT or continuing to use the MSM evening news as a source of “information.”

This would be the downside to the the forced Darwinism we're administering to these bastards during the GWOT. The survivors are getting smarter.

I don't like anyone's odds with a CCW vs. a BG with a longarm, let alone a reasonably-competent fireteam, but it beats the hell out of engaging them with a digital camera.

The Romulan government has denied all involvement.

That’s what I found too. I really liked the .45WinMag. Monsterous downrange energy - on par with a .44Mag or 10mm loaded to full potential.

I wish the LAR was not quite so expensive tho. It isn’t made any longer (last I read) and when it was, it was a $2K piece.

My daughter got a Kimber .45 for her birthday.
Well, she has it already and her birthday isn’t until Jan 2nd.

I have a Kimber myself.
Nice firearm.

I read that they worked in pairs - one shooter while other reloaded.

This evidently was a standard among various groups....so it was trained tactic.

These guys, we not a bunch of fanatic amateurs.

The one I fired was at a range in San Diego. It was likely the LAR sales critter showing off the new product to the owner of the range. I was at the range about 5 days a week. Much of that time was with my Ruger Super Redhawk firing 454 Casull. The employee with the LAR wanted to try out the Ruger. We loaded up our respective beasties and exchanged firearms. My hand was nicely stippled. The employee was predictably a quivering pile of nerves after touching off 6 rounds of 300 gr Hornady 454 Casull (1500 fps). The Grizzly follows the 1911 pattern, but is significantly more stout in construction.

I wish the LAR was not quite so expensive tho. It isn’t made any longer (last I read) and when it was, it was a $2K piece.

That is pretty expensive. I waited 9 months and coughed up $1500 for the Performance Center Hunter 500 S&W Magnum. I have no regrets on that purchase. I later purchased the 460 version. That comes with a little buyer's remorse. The serial number run was made with defective metal in barrel. I have to return it to S&W for inspection/repair as necessary.

LOL....That’s a 600 Nitro express.

Hardly a CHL rig.....:o)

Albeit I have PSD’s use the TC Contender in such a fashion so it’s remote yet plausible .

Thanks ! Neat video !

That's a custom 577 Nitro pistol barrel on a Thompson/Center Encore frame. The only reason the shooter still has a head attached is the torque from the rifling twisted the pistol out of his hand before the recoil launched it over his shoulder. It's a vicious round in a rifle.

Actually, the Reuters caption was "alleged gunman". Though, he does appear to be a man, and that isn't a flash in his pocket.
