However, turning to what he was directly talking about, the following comes to mind.
You live in a world in which innocents are killed by extremists based on twisted ideology. But you say you cannot tolerate such a world. Do you propose to send military troops to everywhere that such a thing is happening? UNILATERALLY?? Remember what you said. Adding more troops does not help. Surges fail.
How about cutting the army back to seven divisions or maybe five? A 150 ship navy? A Marine Corps that cannot muster a full amphibious task force?

Over the holiday, a lib inlaw was explaining how “forward thinking” Costa Rica was because they disbanded their military years ago and 75% of their land is national parks.
I made two statements to which I got no response:
