Will Overlong Deadly Dull SF Mayor Speech on YouTube Inspire Parodies?
NewsBusters ^ | December 2, 2008 | P.J. Gladnick

The only thing remotely interesting about San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's bizarre decision to upload his incredibly dull 7.5 hour "state of the city" speech to YouTube is the knowledge that it is sure to inspire parodies. So how dull is Newsom's speech? Well I challenge you to listen to just a couple of minutes of it without hearing the beckoning call of Mr. Sandman enticing you to enter a deep slumber. Here is the take on this YouTube speech by Michelle Malkin:

Hey, remember that judge who sentenced noise violators to Barry Manilow music? Here’s a worse sentence: Sitting through 7.5 hours of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom droning on and on and on about the “state of the city.” There are YouTube segments on health care, education, and the environment. But nada on the city’s infamously deadly illegal alien sanctuary policies.

He’s uploaded his entire speech on YouTube. Even his fellow libs can’t take it:

Is that smile pasted on his face? How does he keep talking without moving his upper lip?

The length of the speec his very much indicative of the out of control scope of government. If the government of San Francisco were just doing its legitimate job, then the speech would have run for about ten minutes. And only because politicians are windbags.

Isn’t it interesting how Communist and other ‘Left wing’ leaders need hours and hours to expound on their plans and a real American like Washington or Lincoln could get to the heart of his beliefs in a few sentences?

I actually think this is a good idea. He obviously spends half an hour to 45 minutes on various aspects, like education. If people don’t want to watch, they don’t have to. But someone who’s particularly interested in education or health care or the environment or crime or whatever can get more in-depth information.

It’s easy to simply criticize. Much better to take a decent idea and make it our own.

Seven and a half HOURS????

It this a joke? Did he really go on for that long?

Was there like an “intermission” for bathroom breaks? This sounds like one of the old “Politburo” speeches!

Dear Lord, don’t let Barry hear about this! He will try and “out do” this time record in his “State Of The Union” speech!

Seven and half hours! Un-frappin’ believable!!!

Sorry for the length of this speech, but I didn’t have time to write a shorter one...

No, I’m totally serious. I think it’s a good idea.

Obviously, the masses of people won’t be interested. But some will.
