Despite their faith in the power of metaphor, Hollywood is still dumb and/or disingenuous. They flatter themselves for adhering to an old script written in the 60s. Blinders are so reassuring to the blind. Nothing new in tabloid town.
Funny stuff. Opie shows off his 5th grade education. His parents should have sent him to school instead of pimping him out to Andy.
One thing I remember about Nixon was that there weren’t so many mysterious deaths surrounding him.
Opie has made some good movies, he was a real cute kid, that does not give him special powers as a political commentator.
Kudos to Chris Wallace, a very under-rated journalist who doesn't employ the bombast of some of the more notable Fox News commentators (Wallace is not a commentator but a reporter - huge difference). Nor does he have the charisma of some TV anchormen. However, Chris Wallace remains a fair and balanced reporter that said what had to be said in this instance when these Hollywood dopes were saying totally untrue things about the current president.
My question to those who try to pretend that President Bush is some kind of devious Nixon-like criminal that has done terrible things during his presidency is simply this: with a Democrat majority in congress since January, 2007, why hasn't Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats gleefully impeached Bush, Cheney and most of the Bush administration? It's usually a rhetorical question because the answer is so obvious: no evidence! Not a shred. The accusations from the hate-Bush crowd are simply lies that attempt to criminalize political policy differences and have, for the Democrats, the added benefit of slowly but inevitably persuading far too many Americans that President George W. Bush is a criminal and should be loathed and reviled, just as the left loath and revile him.
Sadly, due to a depressing lack of personal communication skills and some blatant gaffes during his presidency, Bush's job-approval numbers are dismal and he will leave office under a cloud, of sorts. The Democrats have desperately tried to characterize the entire Bush presidency as a failure and they have more than halfway succeeded. This is very disturbing.
That is why I admire Chris Wallace for speaking truth to idiots, in this case. This should happen a lot more often and I can only hope that, as the Obama presidency reveals itself to be the disaster it likely will be, President Bush will be seen in a truer light, without the lies and mischaracterizations of the hard left, hate-Bush crowd, who will be far too busy defending Obama's socialist, economy-killing policies to an angry American population who no longer think standing there and 'looking cool' is being a leader.

Whatever their opinion of Bush, that these idiots could not see the obvious differences between him and Nixon is frightening. How can people be that stupid?

President Nixon, like Senator McCarthy, is the victim of a permanent slander by the Left.
Richard Nixon did not even know about the break-in, and when he learned of it, he committed the terrible sin of displaying loyalty towards those who served under him. His "Enemies List" was a list of political opposition members whom he didn't care to invite to parties (Ooh, not inviting them to parties- how McCarthy like!).
I doubt Mr. Howard will let a little thing like stubborn facts get in the way of a good story. Unfortunately, many view these movies without realizing there has been some deviation from truth to make them. After all, even if it’s a fake, Mr. Howard still believes it’s true. BTW, how’s Dan Rather coming with defending his faith?

He made some good movies but not great movies. Apollo 13 slurred the corporations that engineered the space program. Even Gene Kranz opposed that subplot of the Apollo 13 movie but Red Howard held to his evil corporation agit prop (I think it had something to do with “they cut corners” which was a lie).
If there's one thing that the Boston Phoenix should know, it's sexy mens. Do they still make the bulk of their revenue from escort ads in the back pages? Last I recall it was 25% of the paper.
They lie as boldly as any Stalinist would.
Just speaking for myself, I don’t mind them doing what they want with their movies, although I see your point about propoganda. For example, I like both JFK and China Syndrome as films, although I don’t accept their premises one iota. In fact I can view both as rather evil propoganda but I enjoy the films.
I think Beautiful Mind was a very good film (also inaccurate in many respects) maybe even a great one, I fell in love w Jennifer Connelly, but I don’t value her political views or R Howard’s.
Can the balloon juice, Opie, and get on with making your little films.

Yet they were completely comfortable with a candidate who sealed and hid every documented record on himself. Even the most routine documents.
Ron Howard has dropped off of my list of tolerable people. He left my list of respected people years ago. No conclusion that he asserts can be reached by the use of logic.
