Mike Wallace, a pioneer of American broadcasting who confronted leaders and liars for the newsmagazine “60 Minutes” for four decades, has died, CBS News said. He was 94. His death was announced on CBS by the anchor of its Sunday morning program, Charles Osgood. The network did not immediately specify when or where he died. Mr. Wallace had been ill for several years.

Chris Wallace just claimed on national TV that he looked up the word "grandiose" in the dictionary and that it is a negative word and that Gingrich misused and misapplied it to himself. In the segment, Wallace was obviously spinning against Gingrich, and in that piece he was saying the "grandiose" exchange with Santorum was Santorum's shining moment. However, he claimed he looked the word up in a dictionary and that the word is negative in meaning. If he actually looked it up in any dictionary, it would have had multiple meanings. In honesty, he would have had to report...

Mitt Romney, making a direct appeal to middle class voters, said this morning that he would be a president who would protect average Americans – a statement that is sure to be challenged by Democrats and will become a major theme in the general election if Romney wins the nomination. “The people who have been hurt in the Obama economy are not the wealthy, the wealthy are doing just fine,” Romney said this morning on Fox News Sunday. “The people that have been hurt are people in the middle class.” In a wide-ranging interview with Chris Wallace – his first...

With former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney set to make a long-awaited appearance on Fox News Sunday next week, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough and Fox host Chris Wallace have begun to trade barbs. On his Thursday show, Scarborough — who at the time mistakenly thought it was set for this Sunday — offered some advice for Romney, alleging that his interviewer, Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace, “loathes” him. “And by the way, he’s going on Fox News Sunday,” Scarborough said. “Chris Wallace has never made a secret of the fact that he loathes Mitt Romney. He has never liked him....

During Wednesday’s GOP debate in Simi Valley, Calif., former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s approach went beyond sniping at his competition: He sniped at the media covering the candidates. That seems to have disappointed “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace. On Thursday’s “America’s Newsroom,” Wallace, Gingrich’s target in a previous debate, said that although Gingrich was aggressive and was applauded for his media criticism, it wasn’t very effective. “I’m not sure it did much,” Wallace said. “You know, he’s decided, and he decided it before he went after me in the Iowa debate and now after these moderators in this debate,...

While there seems to be some debate over who won the Republican debate in Ames, Iowa, there seems to be consensus on who lost: Fox News in general and Chris Wallace specifically. In the mind of many conservatives, the Fox questioners did their best MSNBC impersonations by peppering the candidates with tough yet mostly meaningless irrelevancies. Folks are asking what good are tough questions if they are meaningless? I submit they are of no use at all. Which brings up another question: what is the point of a debate anyway? Or an interview for that matter? The point should be...

He deserves it! Newt was right to attack him and his line of questions. The audience agreed. This wasn't his tv show. People wanted to hear the candidates discuss important issues. You embarrassed yourself, Chris. (Though Newt did a good job of making you look like a jerk) Susan Ferrechio did the best job of any of them.

Via POLITICO's Jennifer Epstein, Michele Bachmann isn't accepting an apology from Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace for asking her yesterday, "Are you a flake?" Continue Reading ABC News' Jon Karl, who's been getting face-time with Bachmann in Waterloo in advance of her formal campaign announcement, played a clip of the web video in which Wallace said, "I messed up. I'm sorry." When Karl asked if she accepts the apology, Bachmann brushed aside the question this way: "I think that it's insulting to insinuate that a candidate for president is less than serious."
-
Is Chris Wallace's latest Fox News Sunday stunt the meat in a controversy sandwich that he's building? See Wallace ask Michele Bachmann if she is a "flake" in a video embedded at the original post here, or at YouTube. Well is she? Did Wallace miss her debate performance in New Hampshire? Unless she's his lab rat for some psychology thesis, what purpose does the question serve? She's not going to say yes. While Wallace did apologize, what makes Michele Bachmann the lucky recipient of such a question when the left itself is a bunch of flakes... Here's a snowflake...
-
Michele Bachmann and her supporters need to take a deep breath. Chris Wallace was merely asking Bachmann a question relating to how many of her critics view her. He himself wasn't calling her a flake. The exchange below bears this out. It was nice of Wallace to apologize, though - even though he did nothing wrong. Video of exchange (scoll down) Exchange from transcript:WALLACE: Finally, let's talk about Michele Bachmann because -- and you say -- it's interesting. You say that the people saw in the debate and saw you as a serious person. I don't have to tell you that...

Chris Wallace told Don Imus Thursday he intended to fully respond to the fallout from last week's interview with Jon Stewart. True to his word, at the conclusion of the most recent "Fox News Sunday," Wallace struck back at Stewart's claim that Fox watchers are the most misinformed media viewers by demonstrating that folks who watch "Hannity" and "The O'Reilly Factor" were actually better informed than "Daily Show" viewers (video follows with transcript and commentary) CHRIS WALLACE, HOST: Now, the surprising fallout from our interview last Sunday with Jon Stewart. I figured it would get some reaction, but not that...

On his program Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace asked his guest, presidential candidate Michele Bachmann if she was a flake. Bachmann seemed perturbed by the question, and rightly so, and then proceeded to answer the question with coherence, grace and dignity. She responded by saying "well, I think that would be insulting, to say something like that, because I'm a serious person". Bachmann pointed out that she has been married 33 years, is a lawyer, has a post-doctorate degree in federal tax law, worked in the U.S. federal tax court, has five children, raised 23 foster children and opened...

One might expect to hear the term flake bandied about in a private conservation when talking about another person not present, but it is not a term that often comes up on Sunday morning public affairs talk shows — especially so directly. However, on “Fox News Sunday,” it was a description moderator Chris Wallace asked 2012 Republican presidential candidate Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, who Wallace said has a reputation in Washington of making “questionable statements,” to respond to. “Finally, let’s talk about Michele Bachmann because — and you say — it’s interesting,” Wallace said. “You say that people saw in...

FOX News Sunday host Chris Wallace asked conservative presidential candidate Michele Bachmann today, “Are you a flake?… “ Really, Chris? So pointing out that there are anti-American members of Congress proves you’re a flake? Wallace owes Michele Bachmann an apology. Just wondering… When was the last time a reporter asked Barack Obama if he was a flake for trying to spend his way out of a recession?

In the wake of Ben Shapiro’s book Primetime Propaganda which provides a detailed look at how the left hijacked America’s media. Jon Stewart was on with Fox News’ Chris Wallace over the weekend and actually denied that CNN, ABC, et. al. are not politically biased. Obviously Jon cannot be intellectually honest with himself but he did concede that MSNBC is trying to copy Fox’s format from a progressive (code for socialist) point of view. Stewart did admit that his show is politically biased, however, he used the copout that he is a comedian first and a pundit second. Stewart can...

Hint: It’s not what you think. In his exit interview with Chris Wallace, soon to be former Defense Secretary Bob Gates told Wallace what he worries about the most. And, no it’s not Islamic terrorism. It’s us! Gates bemoaned the loss of bipartisanship in DC as our biggest problem. When asked by Wallace what he worries about as he looks to the future, the Secretary didn’t mention the two new wars that Obama has dragged America into. He didn’t mention the rise of home grown jihadism. Or the war in Afghanistan. Nope, it’s not Pakistani nukes either. Nor is it...

After interviewing Sarah Palin, Chris Wallace talked about her with his panel of guests and revealed that he was very impressed with her appearance. Unlike previous times when he interviewed her, Wallace noticed “this wasn’t just ‘you betcha’ – she was pretty sharp on the issues.” Wallace was eager to see if anyone else agreed with his review of Palin’s interview: “I thought she was a boffo performance today. It was the first time that I ever saw her and thought ‘this woman is a serious – if she decides to run – candidate for President. And a serious possibility...

The following is a rush transcript of the June 5, 2011 edition of "Fox News Sunday With Chris Wallace." CHRIS WALLACE, ANCHOR: I'm Chris Wallace. The economy struggles and nation's recovery is in jeopardy. And, Governor, welcome back to "Fox News Sunday." FORMER GOV. SARAH PALIN, R-ALASKA: Thank you so much, Chris. WALLACE: Let's start with the economy and bad news on Friday -- just 54,000 jobs were added in May, the lowest number in eight months. Unemployment rose to 9.1 percent. When you add that to poor numbers on growth, on housing, on manufacturing, where are we in...

I think Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday is one of the better interviewers among the various news channel hosts. He is prepared, and pushes pretty hard with everybody, though not in an obnoxious fashion. He chooses to remain the interviewer, and not become the story. Unfortunately, Wallace injected himself into an interview Sunday, with the use of language that can be best described as inflammatory and historically inaccurate. In an interview with newly announced GOP Presidential candidate Herman Cain, Wallace asked a few questions about Cain's support of Israel. He then asked him about the Palestinian right of...

Hillary Clinton was on the FOX Chris Wallace Show on Sunday, November 21, 2010. Chris asked Clinton about ratification for the New Start treaty that is in front of the Senate and he asked her about running for President in 2012 or 2016. Her answers to both of those questions were interesting.

On Fox News Sunday, Brit Hume condemned NPR for its “howling double standard” in firing Juan Williams for expressing an opinion, a standard “manifestly not being applied to other NPR people.” He forwarded the theory that “in the culture of NPR, appearing on Fox is a sin” and “for an African-American man” to “be kind of a Bill Cosby liberal, not a down-the-line liberal, is a sin as well.” Hume’s assessment came after host Chris Wallace read from a column in which Cokie Roberts denounced Glenn Beck as “worse than a clown. He’s more like a terrorist,”

There seems to be a schism between two of the media giants that lefties hold in high regard – the entire MSNBC network and Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart. After Stewart took a few jabs at MSNBC during his Oct. 30 Washington, D.C. rally, MSNBC host Keith Olbermann took umbrage at the equivalency Stewart drew between his network and the Fox News Channel. In Olbermann’s view, Fox News Channel is a source of evil in the world, while MSNBC is a source of good. However, Stewart, who admittedly sees things from a liberal worldview, questioned MSNBC’s role...

On FNS, Howard Dean accuses Fox News of being “absolutely racist” by reporting on the Shirley Sherrod story. He also called the Black Panther voter intimidation story “phony.” Chris Wallace responded to Dean, saying, “I know facts are inconvenient,” before informing him that Sherrod was fired before her name was ever mentioned on Fox News, something which Dean seemed unaware of.

Former Hewlett-Packard executive Carly Fiorina, who won the California GOP Senate primary Tuesday, said Sunday she regretted her off-the-cuff remarks about the hairstyle worn by her opponent, Sen. Barbara Boxer. "I regret this whole situation. I gave people the opportunity to talk about something petty and superficial," she told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday." "This is a very serious election year about serious issues." The Republican candidate didn't apologize for the remark, captured off the air during a television interview and posted on YouTube, in which she disparaged her opponents hairstyle as outdated. Mrs. Fiorina said the contest with...

This might upset some of the Fox News-ophobes within DC media circles, the so-called purists that tend to look down on the highly rated cable news outlet. As Fox News is purportedly competing with Bloomberg for that front-row seat once occupied by the former dean of the White House press corps and Hearst Newspaper columnist Helen Thomas, Chris Wallace, the host of "Fox News Sunday," suggested there would be some sort of righteousness in his network taking that seat. "They absolutely should get it," Wallace said on the June 10 broadcast of the Fox Business Network's "Imus in the Morning."...

Yesterday we posted an interview Chris Wallace did with Megyn Kelley which he talked about his interview with Governor Palin last Sunday. Wallace appeared on the Brian and The Judge radio show this morning and talked about the interview. Wallace also added some interesting thoughts about Governor Palin off camera prior to the interview. Click the image to listen:

Fox News's Chris Wallace Thursday blasted Joe Scarborough for suggesting that he rolled his eyes at the camera after Sunday's interview with Sarah Palin, and said he was "offended" people even watched the former Congressman on MSNBC. The "Fox News Sunday" host was referring to what transpired on Monday's "Morning Joe." "Look at the end of Chris Wallace's interview where he rolls his eyes, uh, embarrassed. There's no doubt he is," said Scarborough. "Now he will deny that, but Chris was sending a message to all his friends, 'yes I know she is not a serious thinker.'" As Scarborough predicted,...

Former V.P. hopeful and FNC contributor Sarah Palin told "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace that if she didn't run for president she'd do the best "darn good job" as a reporter. Well it turns out that Palin, with all her dang, darn, heck, hell no, bull-stuff and you betcha's earned Wallace his best show ratings ever this past Sunday in his six years hosting the show. She explained the e-mail "issue" involving her husband, Todd, whom she referred to as "Alaska's first dude," she re-issued her call for White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel to resign for using...

Joe Scarborough was surely right about one thing: he's going to take some flak . . . On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough said that Sarah Palin has been "lowering the bar" with her public pronouncements, asserting that she hasn't done the necessary homework to permit her to speak seriously on the issues. Joe also claimed that while "top conservatives" are afraid to take Palin on publicly, they express views similar to his "behind the scenes." View video here.

Jeri Thompson blasted Fox News host Chris Wallace on the Fred Thompson show today, calling his joke that he hoped Sarah Palin would sit on his lap during an interview with him "inappropriate" and "insipid," and demanding "action from Fox. Thompson, the wife of the former senator and presidential candidate, told POLITICO's Jonathan Martin that the remark, to Fox Business's Don Imus, amounted to misogyny, and that she was tired of seeing it from "these dirty old men" on Fox, a network that she said ought to be respectful of conservative women. "Sarah Palin is now part of the Fox...

Fox News correspondent Chris Wallace was the first to interview former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin this morning following her speech last night at the National Tea Party Weekend held in Nashville, TN. Will she run for President in 2012? Sarah Palin took the stage last night boldy declaring that "America is ready for another revolution." The most famous Christian hockey-mom in the world spoke to the Tea Party crowd about conservative values, President Obama, and how out of touch the Democratic party is. Chris Wallace mentioned this morning on Fox News, that during his interview with Sarah Palin, she believes...

Since Republican Scott Brown won the special election Jan 19 to fill Massachusetts' U.S. Senate seat vacated after the death of Ted Kennedy, President Barack Obama and high-level White House staffers David Axelrod and Robert Gibbs have been on the media circuit in damage control mode. But according to "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace, efforts to spin this in a positive way are futile. Wallace appeared on the Fox Business Network's Jan. 21 "Imus in the Morning" program to explain their efforts to alter the news coverage to a favorable tone in the wake of this news is not...

Fox shock! As was noted on WorldMagBlog yesterday, Brit Hume crossed the line of decency on Fox News Sunday With Chris Wallace (and on Sunday, of all days!) by recommending “the Christian faith” to Tiger Woods as the remedy for his personal problems. In case you missed it, here’s the clip (viewer discretion advised): < snip > Was Hume abusing his position as a newsman on a panel of news analysts? Or was he just offering . . . analysis? Kyle Koster at The Chicago Sun-Times, for example, points out the oddity of “a newsman offering advice to the beleaguered...

It was in 1988 that I discovered Rush Limbaugh. At the time, every media outlet spawned only liberal propaganda and liberal spins on whatever happened. I was tired of hearing that Republicans only wanted to kill people and that Newt Gingrich wanted to destroy Medicare - and the rest of the lies that Democrats tell constantly to scare people so that they can gain or hold onto power. I was tired of hearing of secret Republican plans to decimate Social Security, and that Ronald Reagan wanted gays to catch AIDS. It was doubly troubling for me because I was a...

Limbaugh Tells Fox News Dems Trying to 'Steal' Private Sector The conservative radio talk show host blasted the Democrats' health care bills as a front that would steal money from American businesses and effect the partial takeover of the private sector. Health care reform legislation being pushed through Congress represents the "biggest snatch of freedom and liberty" in U.S. history, Rush Limbaugh tells "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace in an exclusive interview to air this Sunday. The conservative radio talk show host blasted the Democrats' health care bills as a front that would steal money from American businesses and...

Here is video of Karl Rove and Terry McAuliffe debating the White House strategy of attacking Fox News. Rove said he believes Obama's White House is dominated by "Chicago-style politics." If they don't like what a reporter says, they "keep score" and seek to get back at them. McAuliffe said "people are annoyed" that "Fox" did not broadcast Obama's speech on Health Care to the nation. Actually, Fox News carried Obama's speech - it was the Fox Entertainment network that did not. Rove said it is "over the top" for the White House to refer to Fox News as "the...

If Virginia gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell thought he was going to get friendly treatment on "Fox News Sunday," he was in for quite a surprise. Fox host Chris Wallace grilled McDonnell - appearing without Democrat Creigh Deeds, who declined repeated interview requests from Fox - on topics from McDonnell's views on women in the workforce to whether he'll be able to fund road projects without raising taxes or cutting other services to child care. "If we do a good job on job creation and economic development, Chris, you don't cut anything because we expand the economy," McDonnell said. The GOP...

VIDEO & FULL TEXT: Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday, in response to President Obama's appearing on all Sunday talk shows, except his this Sunday, had this to say Friday during an appearance on The O'Reilly Factor, the most-watched show on Cable TV, with Bill O'Reilly. Instead of President Obama, Wallace will host ACORN's CEO, Bertha Lewis:

Appearing on “The O’Reilly Factor” last night (September 18th), Chris Wallace asserted that the 0bama Administration is “the biggest bunch of crybabies I have dealt with in my 30 years in Washington.” The discussion addressed the fact that President Obama is doing all of the major Sunday News Shows, except “Fox News Sunday”. Wallace pointed out he could understand why Obama would be upset with Glenn Beck or Sean Hannity, but O’Reilly’s show and Fox News Sunday don’t just “beat on him.” Bill O’Reilly added, “The power shift in the media is now with FOX, FOX News, and talk radio....

Here is video of Fox News Sunday's Chris Wallace talking with Bill O'Reilly about the fact that President Obama is doing all the major Sunday News Shows - except - Fox News Sunday. It is a blatant slap in the face to Fox News, who I'm sure President Obama is not too happy with these days. Wallace pointed out he could understand why Obama would be upset with Glenn Beck or Sean Hannity, but that O'Reilly's show or Fox News Sunday really does not just "beat on him." Yet, there is a "childishness" and "pettiness" about the Obama team. Wallace...

If you are wondering what Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow are going to be spending the week talking about now that the Kennedy memorial is over, get over to Foxnews.com and watch former Vice President Dick Cheney’s blockbuster interview with Chris Wallace. In an extraordinarily blunt, straightforward—and witty—interview, the former Vice President gives his unvarnished, no-holds-barred opinion on the revelation this week that Attorney General Eric Holder was beginning a criminal probe of CIA interrogators, and the implications it has for national security. While Cheney is composed and relaxed throughout, there is little doubt that his outrage at...
