Lewis Winant'a book Firearms Curiosa, page 182 and
figure 208. His description is fine, and this is the
identical pistol. The caliber is .55 percussion,
8" octagonal barrel with dovetail front sight.
The function is fine, the metal shows rust marks from
poor storage, saw handle, ring trigger, plain
walnut grips with flared grips in fine condition.
Apparently this is an unique pistol. $7,250.

Holy crap! That looks like a gun crossed with a clarinet!!!Thanks for posting!
Metal Storm Version 1.0
Not too far off if the design is a single barrel with alternately loaded charges and bullets. A flash hole for each bullet would do the job although the loss in pressure for each subsequent round might be significant. Metal Storm avoids the pressure problem with electric ignition.
I love the Metal Storm concept, this confederate gun would scare the bejeebers out of me to fire.
Cross spark ignition would be an explosive experience.....
LOL
I saw a diagram of a rifle like this in a book when I was in fourth grade or so. I think the idea is to load powder, then ball, then powder, then ball, four times, stacked in one barrel. Then cap all four, and pray that the caps line up with the charges. Then fire from front to rear. Not me, thanks.
Hmmmmm? I wonder if the inventor was one of those guys that fired this weapon once, and was buried on the next day?
Yeah...so do I. I loved it so much I bought a bunch of stock. Many moons ago.
It is now $.37 - ahhhh, lets just say not enough others loved it between what I paid and what it is now.
Still have it...still hoping!!!
1860’s gun pron!
The person who developed the double shot flint lock rifle (musket) had his brother killed by Indians.
There were two Indians, he killed the first but was killed
by the second while he was trying to reload.
He would rework a normal single shot musket by adding a second flint lock, powder pan and fire hole.
I’ve read about and seen a few photos of stacked charge, multishot firearms before.
The primary problem with them, and the reason for their lack of success in the market, was the tendency to chain fire.
In addition, if a center or last charge fired out of sequence, the gun could become jammed and/or explode. Not a good thing when you are depending on it for your life.
YOU shoot it. I’ll hold your beer and watch from a distance.
LOL...Oh you bet...I can see this rig going off like a Roman Candle, and the shooter better hold on to it or it will chase him like a bottle rocket on steroids.
Plaxico needs to get him one of these.
Necessity being the mother of all invention. Fascinating site by the way, I burned up better than an hour perusing that guy’s goods. Wow. Thanks for posting.
Jim Rome was talking about Plaxico today. He had a good take on the incident.
