General Jones shoots Israel
Samson Blinded ^ | December 3, 2008 | Obadiah Shoher

Posted on 12/06/2008 5:48:35 AM PST by danny1961

General James Jones, Obama’s choice for National Security Adviser, again revealed his staggering ignorance. The general might be an authority in conventional warfare - though it is unlikely, given his mere few months battlefield experience in Vietnam. General Jones pushes his hallmark solution for the West Bank: IDF moves out and NATO troops move in. The proposal reveals Gen. Jones complete ignorance of anti-terrorist warfare.

IDF is the only army in the world which curbed terrorism: from near-war levels in 2000-2003 to near-absence today. The success is due to two factors: extremely exhaustive intelligence and freedom of operations. IDF runs tens of thousands of Arab agents, from taxi drivers to the Ramallah government figures who squeak on terrorist attempts in progress. Some work for money, others are blackmailed and threatened. IDF’s Mishtarah Aravit, the Arab Police unit, do the things which make Guantanamo a kindergarten. No Palestinian, a commoner or official, is immune from Jewish teenagers in the Arab Police squad. That might not be nice, but Jewish bodies blown in terrorist acts were way worse.

Unlike IDF, NATO troops don’t know the art of vast intelligence networks; they don’t even have a reasonable number of Arab interpreters. There is no way NATO soldiers would hang a Palestinian official by his [not neck] to force information from him. They will not blackmail Palestinians in terrorist-ridden villages with eviction of their relatives from Israel. They won’t risk their lives very night in inconspicuous, mostly unreported raids of bomb labs. Besides all the training and operational issues, NATO troops just have no incentive for such activities.

US troops, the best of NATO’s, cannot curb terrorism in Iraq despite massive presence on the ground and serious collaboration by the Iraqis. Whatever calm was there for a few months is mostly attributable to Sadr’s decision to calm down to allow the US an honorary withdrawal. There might have been an US-Iranian arrangement to curb Shiite terrorism in Iraq in return to the US limiting itself to worthless sanctions against Iran and opposing Israel’s strike. US troops failed in terrorist warfare in Lebanon, Somalia, Vietnam, and other places. There is no chance of them securing the West Bank against Palestinian terrorism.

NATO troops are no different from the UN peacekeepers who failed miserably in Sinai in 1967 and now in Lebanon. Under the UNIFIL nose, Hezbollah increased its rocket arsenals fourfold since 2006 ceasefire. UNIFIL’s Italian contingent concluded a separate ceasefire with Hezbollah which won’t attack their installations while the peacekeepers turn a blind eye to weapons smuggling.

General Jones wants to sweeten the pill of forcing Israel’s withdrawal from the ancient Jewish lands of Judea and Samaria by the fake security offered by NATO troops. In 1956, Eisenhower lured Israel into withdrawal from Sinai by promising to keep the Tiran Straits open; when Egypt closed them in 1967, the only thing the US did was to push Israel to refrain from preemption. IDF learned the lesson and protest vociferously the NATO deployment.

Jewish ultra-leftist Martin Indyk, ignorant and arrogant as always, has a suggestion of his own: US nuclear guarantee to Israel. According to his plan, US will promise to nuke Iran if it nukes Israel. That’s quite a post-mortem comfort for the fried Jews. Iran lost millions of its people in the war with Iraq which is certainly less relevant to the mullahs than annihilation of the Zionist entity; the US reprisal is not a great threat, then. The reprisal is non-credible: if the US objects to mere attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities now, what’s the probability of America nuking Iran’s population centers? Minus one hundred percent, to be exact. Indyk’s plan is another sweet pill for Israel: this one, to accept the American ban on attacking Iran. Incredibly, Jews believe that Indyk is pro-Israeli.

With friends like these ones, who needs enemies?

Upon completion of The Basic School at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, in October 1967, he was ordered to the Republic of Vietnam, where he served as a platoon and company commander with Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines. While overseas, he was promoted to first lieutenant in June 1968.

Returning to the United States in December 1968, Jones was assigned to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as a company commander until May 1970."

Well, he certainly hasn’t spent any time on active duty since Vietnam, although he seems to have steadily climbed the career ladder.

One thing stood out for me, apart from his recent role in advising the Senate, which may have endeared him to Obama:

“Remaining in Washington, his next assignment was as the Marine Corps liaison officer to the United States Senate, where he served until July 1984. In this assignment, his first boss was John McCain, then a U.S. Navy captain.[2] He was promoted to lieutenant colonel in September 1982.”

Curious coincidence.

FYI: The number of terrorist attacks worldwide is WAY higher than what is reported in the image provided. Per the FBI; over 14,000 terrorist attacks took place in 2006 alone, resulting in more than 22,000 deaths, of which, approx. 28 of those deaths were Americans. The majority of the attacks were in Iraq and Afghanistan. Having said that, the rest of the world knows all too well, the pox that threatens their daily existence, otherwise known as terrorism. America, on the other hand, is fast asleep.

Correction to my post: I see that the subject figure in your post, only involves Islamic terrorist attacks. I reported a figure involving ALL known terrorism organizations and their attacks in my post. My mistake.

Enlightening post about how Israel keeps terrorist Muslims at bay. It’s hard work.

Not empty promises to nuke Iran if they hit Israel. No one can depend on such drek after Obama takes us out of Iraq prematurely

There’s a lot of these resume building, worthless “generals” around, usually backstabbers, ticket puncher (those that served know of what I speak) types.

Careerists. Washington in general is full of them--look at the resumes of Obama's appointments--hardly an honest, real-life job anywhere in the combined histories of the lot of them. Why expect the high branches of the military tree to be any different.

The new administration is about power and central control. To achieve that, you have to scare the sheep into cooperation. Watch for a new crisis every time they want more of your freedom.

Roger that Steamburg. I see you get it.

US peacekeepers didn’t work out in Lebanon under Reagan, either. They are targets, and their hands are tied.

One of Reagans' few serious errors--putting "peacekeepers" in where there was no peace to keep. At least he learned from it and never tried it again, more than can be said for most of the rest of Washington.

Israel is a big aircraft carrier for the US in the middle east.

The only thing that has been proven to end or combat counter insurgency is intel and the judicious use of violence to combat support, funding and shelter of the guerillas.

we have mental retards in office in DC

The term is "developmentally disabled", and comparing the developmentally disabled to those in office in DC is an insult to the developmentally disabled.

Do you have a link to the FBI data? I'd like to see what other terrorist organizations they include.

Here's the National Counterterrorism Centers’ website. There's a detailed report for 2007, far too long to read in a single sitting, which might be helpful to you. The search engine ‘hits’ for the FBI reports, were limited to finding the overall figures (14,000 terrorist incidents/20,500 deaths) but the blame was nonspecific.

The U S State Departments’ website may be useful to your quest. The data is for the year 2006.

How about we get the U.S. GOVERNMENT out of the picture so Israel can do what she needs to for her own protection. The aid going to Israel from our FedGov could be made up in private contributions. Many, many Evangelical Christians would be PROUD to contribute and it would remove any “veto authority” now exercised by the president and the congress over how Israel protects her own borders as SHE deems necessary. Then we’d have no more of these absurd “peace plans” which only serve to DE-stabilize the whole area and make their proponents out to be the braying jackasses we all KNOW they are.

Then we don’t have to have snide comments like yours rolling about the internet.
