Let the record show that it was George W. Bush, the rich Texas Republican, who brought socialism to America, so don't blame it on that African American Chicago Democrat community organizer who made it into the White House. The government takeover of the banking and automobile industries not only happened on President Bush's watch, it was also the deregulatory mania of this president's family, beginning with his father, which took this country into such starkly unfamiliar territory.
What a betrayal of unfettered free market capitalism. And who would have thought that it would be the candidates backed by conservative pundits Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh who made it possible? You actually could trace the destruction of corporate capitalism to the much-ballyhooed "Reagan Revolution" of the movie actor who got his main training for the presidency as a huckster for General Electric, where he honed the message of "getting government off our backs." The revolution of unfettered corporate capitalism led to an era of unfettered corporate greed, which sowed the seeds of its own destruction.

And the author of this was cheering all along the way. Scheer is a useful idiot for the leninists who want to create the USSA.
Woodrow Wilson brought socialism to America.
So this moron says deregulation cause socialism? Can I get some of what he’s smoking?
Yes, this latest circus is giving the S-word a big growth spurt, but it couldn't have happened without Americans being first softened up to the idea over the years.

I have to admit that there’s some truth to what he says here.
But don't you dare blame the coming socialism on that socialist community organizer who is about to occupy the former White House.
[And the author of this was cheering all along the way. Scheer is a useful idiot for the leninists who want to create the USSA.]
All true. But the lesson to be painfully learned is that No RINOs allowed. I don’t care what the argument is that we need to keep them in the party so we can get the majority, all they do is to 1) dilute the message and 2) backstab us in the back at crucial points.
Bush, McCain, Hagel, Specter, Chafee, Graham, Powell - it is no longer a question of if they will backstab but when. It isn’t pleasant being kidney stabbed with a rusty screwdriver and having it twisted over and over again.
To SanFran Pole Smoker,
Let the record show that socialism in America got it's start with Woodrow Wilson (D) (Income Tax, Direct Election of Senators, World War I) and FDR (may he burn in hell, too many issues to list)
Republicans are not socialists and the democrats are for all intents and purposes the new Communists in America.
robert scheer, formerly of the l.a. times,
wanted the leader of no korea, kim jong 1’s
writings translated into english
because scheer thought these to be instructive for americans.
Woodrow Wilson brought socialism to America..........
indeed.....and socialism was spread by FDR and LBJ even more.........
Why would Bush and the GOP want to give cover for this socialist bill. Why would they want joint ownership?
Why do people think that letting millions of workers be suddenly laid off is a good thing? We are a compassionate people and will never allow things like letting people die in the waiting room because they don’t have insurance.
Everybody knows capitalism is the only system that works. Let’s just get through this recession without miles of soup lines for unemployed people.
Maybe recently, but for the most part, R's allowed it to happen....one small step at a time
Let’s see, Democrats inside these companies brought them down. Democrats in Congress blocked any attempts at reform and investigation for YEARS.
And there is evidence that Secretary Paulson may be a Democrat.
Looting the treasury is a sure way to bring down this nation and elections turn on the economy.
This is like saying that it was Republicans in the 1920s who ushered in Socialism in the 1930s.
And yes Bush is wrong to sign any of this.
We aren’t even allowed to call Obama a Socialist. That is a divisive word.
BTW it's funny that the SanFranCronicle acts like they dislike socialism.
I don’t think Bush actively sought it (until recently) but as LVR said, he mostly just allowed it to happen.

What are you, like, 16 or something? Learn some freakin’ history before you let your Mommy write your (so-called) article.
I say it was Lincoln. From Illinois, go figure.
He is insane.
Wow, what a delusional idiot. This meltdown is the result of bad loans made possible by bad polititians, i.e. democrats. They are responsible for the un-needed institutions Fannie and Freddie, and also responsible for blocking any and every attempt to reign them in. To add to that, some of the biggest players on Wall street with their hands in this mess are democrats as well, and likewise big democrat donors. This whole melt-down can be traced right back to their doorstep, and that’s the last thing they, meaning the democrats and their media lackeys, want the average American to find out. Leftist schills like this bottom-feeder would love for people to believe that this mess was caused by Republicans and that’s why they are trying to chant it over and over hoping that people eventually believe it. We can’t let them. We need to remind people that when life sucks and taxes are too high they have these slimy socialist commie troglodytes to thank for it.
GWB could have corrected injustice where he saw it, but instead he turned a blind eye to the excessive sentence and suffering of the former border patrol agents. The American courts also proved useless in correcting injustice.
I guess we'd better get ready for these kinds of comparisons. A "community organizer" when things are dicey (e.g., "...we can't expect a former community organizer to solve a problem of this magnitude overnight..."), a "messiah" when things are going well.
Still though John McPain said that, if elected, he would pay off or re-amortize all the “bad” loans endorsed by the Democrats.
It’s a wonder the author found time away from Folsom Street and the public park to even pen this rant.
I have no idea how old this guy is, but he’s a perfect example of the kind of informed and educated American produced in the last 35 years. . . . NOT!
The author chastizes Reagan as a “huckster for GE”, which is not ultraliberal. The big shortcoming of Mr. Reagan, it seems to me, was his failure to do his homework on judicial nominations.
What I meant to type is that GE is now a liberal corporation, not the conservative place it was in the 1950s. Same with Disney and so many other companies too.
“Its a wonder the author found time away from Folsom Street and the public park to even pen this rant.”
He probably did it on his Apple Ipod or Blackberry while in hot tub filled with other guys who hate America.
When DemocRATs run the White House, all of America's social ills are swept under the rug and reserved for blame if/when the GOP take control.
Well at least someone is willing to place a big part of the blame where it belongs, squarely at BushOsocialist feet.
Of course some of the article is wrong, but Bush is a socialist.
Compassionate conservatism = Republican Socialism.
George Bush didn’t bring socialism to America.
He just gave it a quantum leap forward and took the ideology out of the cellar and put it on Main Street USA.
Socialists no longer have to hide their beliefs or worry about being ridiculed by republicans.
Let us conservatives beware of any “Republican RINO” candidate from now on who constantly crows about being a “uniter” of the parties and “reaching across the aisle” to the Democrat socialists (who NEVER reach back - period).
Giving Bush his due, but he was fair from the start that he was a RINO, a “uniter” reaching “across the aisle”. RINOs only end up not being economically conservative or really much conservative in much of any way - except maybe militarily.
Unfettered immigration while shipping large portions of our economy to other countries are characteristics of globalism. Clintons started it, Bushs finished it.
Both had the idea that America could cool the entire world by turning the A/C on full blast and leaving all the windows open. A noble if naive thought.
And now as GW packs up and heads back to Texas with a shoulder shrug and a giggling "sorry 'bout that", we have to pay the utilities bill.
Geez it’s not like Congress has been controlled by the Dems during this whole time? *sarcasm*
This is an expert opinion coming from a communist.
all they do is to 1) dilute the message
they certainly do. If Mccain won, conservatives would have to defend his %^$# economic policies for 4 years just like they did with Bush.
Scheer *is* a socialist, so what’s he complaining about???
No, Woodrow Wilson is much more correct. Wilson + Federal Reserve + income tax + first regulations (WWI) on prices etc.
Wilson gave us a dry run of the New Deal, which begat Big Govt.
Republicans are not socialists and the democrats are for all intents and purposes the new Communists in America.
All true. However, in the modern era, Lyndon Johnson put socialism into warp drive before he decided on not running for a second term. To me, it's always seemed as if Kennedy was assasinated precisely so Johnson could create the "Great Society." Hmm.
well, that’s part of the deal as conservatives. We’re going to say no to a lot of things that people want. In return we’ll actually solve problems.
But if we just say no but we really don’t know what we’re doing and the economy stinks as a result then what’s the point. Given a choice between 2 idiots, people will go for the liberal because he says yes to everything.
I was thinking of another word, but JimRob might zot me for about an hour or so, just for fun...
