Chicago Public SchoolsWashington (CNSNews.com) A proposed homosexual-friendly Chicago public high school is necessary for the well-being of students, a Chicago Public Schools administrator told CNSNews.com Wednesday.
Joyce Brown, who is in charge of the public school districts high school counselors, said the Social Justice High School Pride Campus is necessary because the issue (of homosexuality) is out there.
Whatever is bubbling up, she said, needs to be addressed because the issue is there.
The proposed school would offer taxpayer-funded support for homosexual and lesbian students. The school proposal was to be voted on by the Chicago Board of Education on Nov. 19, but the plan was pulled at the last minute.
If approved, the school's mission, according to the school's Web site, would be politically correct: Project based and problem based learning that addresses real world issues through the lenses of race, gender, culture, economic equity, peace, justice, and the environment will be the catalyst for developing our curriculum.
When asked how the introduction of social justice high schools improves the performance of the Chicago district, Brown was vague.
Schools need to be connected with the students they teach, she said.
Brown, who was in Washington to take part in a news conference on college admissions testing, said she did not want the homosexual schools creation to reflect that our system has failed and we have to have pullouts.
That means, she said, that the proposed high school is not being created to address any purported bullying or intolerance of homosexual and lesbian students in Chicago public schools.
Brown said efforts to decrease bullying are in place in all public schools.
Social Justice High School Pride Campus is important, she said, because students need to feel comfortable.
Its important that we address the needs of that particular segment and say Whats not working for you in our system that we can work on?
She added: "That is what matters -- coming to a school where you feel valued, where people are going to push you to the next level of success, and they are there to help you and show that they care.
Brown expects that the plan will re-surface again for consideration in the future.
Its not off the table, she said.
Yup, keep the corrupt poliltics, but we really, really need a homosexual school.
Good, then we need some non-homosexual schools also.
Any bets on how far that would go?
Liberalism - when thinking is too much trouble.
Wasn't that tried before ...
As a tax payer is it high time to reevaluate the state of the public school system (As in ending at least Federal $$$ towards the “indoctrination”)
Great idea...until the first group of kids are molested by teachers or sexual activity in the bathrooms runs rampant.
Imagine that, a high school with its premise based upon sex - homosexual sex - but sex nonetheless. Sounds like another liberal winner idea!
"Whatever is bubbling up," she said, "needs to be addressed because the issue is there."
I guess they don't teach logic, reasoning and debate in high school anymore since they've moved on to more important things like homosexuality.
More discrimination from the homosexuals.
Such intolerance.
But then they can tailor their classes on how to handle life insurance when you’re knocking 30 years off of your life expectancy, and what are the best clothes to wear with colostomy bags.
You know, important stuff.
Wouldn't they have to build special stalls? Wouldn't want to teach the wrong way to foot tap or encourage improper stances...
Yeah, there’s a brilliant idea. Let’s segregate them off in their own little world to reinforce the idea that they deserve special treatment.

Sorry. It is not our job to protect everyone from the bad choices they make or any choice for that matter.. Choices have consequences and this is something that young people need to learn.
The SCHOOLS job, their only job, is to educate the children in order that they may become productive members of the society.
If homosexuals want to be sperated out from the general society then they can start up private schools like many other groups have done. Why should citizens tax dollars subsidize other bad choices?
So instead of punishing students who commit psychological and physical violence against other students, they want to segregate the victims of that violence.
Typical.
It’s a Taliban-style response - “the attackers can’t help it, they were provoked by seeing the victims.” The Taliban use that rationale for women who show too much ankle, and now the schools are using it for students who offend jock sensibilities.
The purpose of a school like that is to take teenagers who are confused, conflicted or uncertain and put them into an environment where they will be made into little confirmed sexual-minorities.
Schoolchild crushes will be transformed into a permanent life-style, and the sexual-minority agenda will be promoted.
Our government at all levels is insanely out of control.
It is time to bring some of them to justice for abusing the trust and money of taxpayers by pursuing extra-constitutional agendas.
How does this demand square with the stated goal of homos and lesbians to be accepted and integrated into the mainstream and be treated the same as everyone else?
And, since they always try to make the case that being queer is somehow equvalent to having a black skin, they need to recall that the US Supreme Court declared long ago that “seperate but equal” schools are not constitutional.
They don’t want to be trated like everyone else. This is the Master Race.
Nope, they need to be mainstreamed so they can learn to live with the rest of society. Life is tough, so sad.
ping
So you can’t have an all girl school but you can have an all gay school, m’kay.
Separate but equal?
This would not stand up to a Constitutional challenge.
What's important is coming to school to get an education, not indoctrination.
How would they handle the locker room situation?
