Sen. Jim DeMint says unfair union influence and the bailout culture will anger many Americans.

Time and again weve heard about the lost jobs and economic impact of failing to bail out the beleaguered American auto manufacturers. But little mention has been made of the consequences of going through with the bailout, and how such an action would be viewed by other Americans.
In an interview following a Dec. 10 press conference where he and four other senators aired their opposition to the proposed bailout deal struck by congressional leaders and the White House (and approved by the U.S. House of Representatives 237-170 that evening), Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., warned that the perception that some industries are being bailed out and some arent could lead to violence.
Were going to have riots. There are already people rioting because theyre losing their jobs when everybody else is being bailed out. The fairness of it becomes more and more evident as we go along. The auto companies may be hurting, he said, but there are very few companies that arent hurting and theyre going to hurt. We dont have enough money to bail everyone out.
DeMint blamed the unions for pushing this issue as far as it has gotten. The senator said the notion that reorganization under bankruptcy would not

Half of this year’s national GDP has just been handed over to a few well-connected people. HALF OUR #^@%!^$ GDP!
At some point in the near future two things will happen:
- Everyone who didn’t get a check will realize they didn’t get a cut of that money ... and that’s about 299,990,000 people
- Everyone will get a tax bill that basically says “you have to cough up what we gave those lucky few, even if it means you lose your home”.
That doesn’t end well.

Methinks I missed a bunch in there. Sorry, what did you say?
Dow Chemical closing doors and laying off workers but not asking for bail outs.
As far as I know anyway.
Right on Mr. DeMint!
That extry riot bone in my foot’s bin atwitchin. Now I know why.
Well, that sort of depends on where you be livin'.
but i wanted to riot.
the other kids got to riot.
when will it be our turn to riot.
The best thing GM could do is declare chapter 11 and then ask Congress why THEY won’t do the same. And then say they’re moving to Mexico or China. Our government already has moved.
Dow and DuPont both raised the prices of their products by 25% in June and then another 25% in July. Who’s buying Rhom & Haas and for how may BILLIONS? Sounds like a deal from Chicago.
Just wait and see.
I don’t flame anyone, and certainly respond to those who respond to my posts. I believe the Unions are all arms of the Democrat party and are a cancer to American Capitalism.
You might be interested in the subject I am watching along with many Americans, and that is the Constitutional issue now before the SCOTUS and other lower courts.
If you care about our Constitution you will listen to the video at the link below. It is a 90 minute video and the only video you will see of this conference where the Constitutional qualification issue was discussed. It is important to listen to the ENTIRE video, even if you feel like quitting before it is finished. It is important to hear the questions from the Media following the speakers.
I hope you will listen and if you think this issue is important that you will send the link to others. I trust you believe our Constitution should be upheld no matter WHO is President.

Thank you! God Bless, and God Bless America!
No need to riot. Just vote with your wallet the next time you buy a new car.
Exactly. They did a survey and the country is pretty much split down the middle on the auto bailout; not so for the banks.
I remember hearing a quote once about the people who count the money or the numbers people and how we need to watch them carefully. It’s a house of cards and has been for some time. Just keep printing all the money - no problemo.
Mercedes ML and GL class SUV’s are also made in the USA.
Only the cars are made in Germany. Don’t know if the UAW is making them though.
While I'll agree that those who oppose the bailout are not among the folks who are prone to rioting, that's not the case with people who are not in the auto industry who don't mind the bailout. The whole idea of, "Hey, you did it for them, you need to do it for me!" will be uppermost on their minds.
DeMint has a point in that it has to stop somewhere. While the Wall Street bailout shouldn't have been done, if it had worked, it would have saved the rest of the economy. Propping up the bloated UAW is not going to make life better for more than a few million for a short while. Stopping the buck here takes the political courage that Congress did not have before the election.
This DeMint guy will probably be the most effective spokesman for conservative values in the next couple of years, while I admire Sarah Palin, we need someone to lead who can show us that he can actively thwart the socialism that Obamunism threatens to bring.

It will be rioting, but not in the definition you are thinking of.
It will be a quiet but productive riot. Action that actually gets something done.
If WE THE PEOPLE stop the money flow into this sham government, then THEY HAVE NO POWER.
It is as simple as that.
WE need to WAKE UP and know this and act.

Had two Dodge 1500 trucks early 00's and a Plymouth Turismo back in the early 90's. They all worked well, just the trucks got crappy mileage because of knobby tires and 4x4 options.
BUT ... if this bailout goes through ... nothing but a Toyota Tundra forever more.
