approved some of the toughest anti-tobacco rules in the nation Thursday, extinguishing cigar bars and hookah bars and ending the sales of tobacco in pharmacies and on college campuses.

The Boston Public Health Commission, however, decided to give the bars 10 years before they would have to close, doubling the original proposed grace period for the establishments. Even then, the bars could seek an extension for another 10 years.

The same reason they regulate, restrict and monitor smoking is the EXACT same reason they should regulate, restrict and monitor homosexuals.

Perhaps some of the Kenmore Square crowd is finally realizing that they will be next? (not that it’s anything like it used to be... well, they got what they asked for)

This is the power government lusts for today; the power to destroy and the power to hold that destructive force over the public and business. The cigar bars should call the cities bluff and close now en mass.

Weird is right; so is hypocritical.

Although I was already aware of it with regard to abolition, not until my late 30's did I begin to pay real attention to the elitist New England penchant for "reform" that has affected this country since the beginning. The road to hell has indeed been paved with their "good" intentions.
