LOL back. No coersion, free will. I have heard both sides of the argument and chose to believe in God. The other argument seems silly to me. I don’t believe we are here by accident, any more than I believe a building can be built without an architect or a poem can be written by shaking a bag of letters up, dumping them out, and falling into something that makes sense. I believe in intellegent design because bringing order out of chaos requires it. If that be the case, a designer is necessary, and therefore I choose to believe in God. It is not about the security, it is thoughtful logic.

I have seen far too many grotesque genetic deformalities and congenital defects, to think we are products of intelligent design. Of course, your choice of wilfully ignoring to consider the case of crippling / degenerative genetic abnormalities running in contravention of ID, does not make ID any truer.

"...as to the your genes being carried on better, LOL again, because we are taught to be fruitful and multiply, we do so. Many more christians have extremely large families and furthermore, have far fewer abortions than do those who argue for invitro due to that whole selfishness entitlement mentality I was speaking about to begin with."

What about the case of infertile Christian couples who can be helped with IVF. Your having of many children, in no way helps the cause of the infertile couple striving to preserve their genetic legacy. That's the cold, plain, dark truth of our existence on this planet. You can hide this truth however you want, but it never ceases to remain the truth. Sadly.

Oh please, if the embryos are “defective” they would not have survived in the womb anyway and those that are not used can be donated to other childless couples. It is also a “manufactured product” when the egg meets the sperm normally and the defective ones don’t survive, so that point is moot as well.

You didn’t address the relationship of frozen embryos with artificial intervention in vegetative states.

Yes, they are. I’m not advocating the supremacy of nature, however, so it really doesn’t bother me.

Alas, it appears it is nowhere to be found. We had 4.5 inches of rain last night, but were spared the ice storm. :)

“CREEPY NAZI RHETORIC ALERT”

Tell that to the couple down the street who had an IVF child. They’re Jewish.

"CREEPY NAZI RHETORIC ALERT"

There is NOTHING Nazi about wanting to preserve ones' genes. I said, an individual mating pair's genes. Nothing racial here, no matter how much you want that to be included here.

Please present stronger arguments, instead of wasting everyone's time.

The egg would have died anyway or if fertilized in the womb, probably would have resulted in a miscarriage...so what is your point again?

My wife is going to die sometime anyway, so I might as well push her in front of a bus.

And perhaps they were not informed of how many of their other children they killed to get the “strong one”.

I don’t know.

Hang around a bit longer than three months here on FR and you will learn much.

And I suppose you are an expert on everything...NOT. WTH is wrong with you saying that a person is uninformed just because they haven't spent years on FR? His/her opinion is just as important as yours and the debate shouldn't end because you arrogantly declare yourself the winner. You need to check your ego, Dear.

You don't have to push anyone in front of any bus. Flushing unused embryos is not strictly IVF. If you have a problem with the flushing, like I do, then address just that. IVF has nothing to do with the disposal. IVF ends with the implantation of the viable embryo. The remaining ones can be frozen in perpetuity, instead of being flushed, in order to satisfy moral obligations expected of us as a society.

Huge difference smarta**. The egg is not an embryo until it is fertilized and a miscarriage is biological rejection by the body.

Well, geez whiz, I never said I was.

The Poster refered to has spent so little time here that he/she is clueless to the idea of facts backing opinion. I’m sure you know this.

And you.

now that is just silly. The design is perfect, imperfections come only when the design is not followed for some known or unknow reason. Only when one deviates from design do those grotesque deformities happen.

as to those infertile christian couples, they are not practicing what they preach. they are practicing selfishness instead of selfLESSness. Taking in a needy unwanted child as your own is the ultimate act of selflessness. Only caring about perpetuating your genetic line, consequences be damned (creating 10 embryos, implanting only 6, selectively reducing 2-4 to make one viable baby) is the ultimate act of selfISHness, imho.
