The ME is a different place, and yet is the same. Egypt and Saudi are gearing up to oppose Iranian expansionism, which seems like a reasonable thing to do. At least Iraq is no longer threatening a rain of fire on Israel.

The hateful, hate filled people who are all too prevalent on any thread related to our President have really put a pall on this site.

Boy do I agree with you.

Even if an angel from heaven runs for President the unappeasable purists among us will find something to bash him and not vote for him.

Troops might have been, but some Iraqi reporter sure wasn’t! He threw his shoes at Bush during a press conference!

Bush sure is a quick-reflexed and -witted gentleman. He ducked and even made a joke about it!

Cool video here.http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/12/14/bush.iraq/index.html

OK, I'll bite, for what should conservatives ("conservatives", not republicans) give Bush credit?

I understand how hard it is concerning those who find it hard to believe how Bush has betrayed America. I voted for him twice, the last time holding my nose.

While his defense of our nation was great, his socialist acts have destroyed our republic.

“Conservatives have no one to blame but ourselves. Too lazy to campaign and work for conservatives and really get a ground level movement running. Thus, all the anger is at “Daddy”. Its time to compete with the energy of the left which mounted an effective grassroots campaign and got Obama into the white house.

“We can whine about how this all turned out, but the conservatives have become fat, lazy and now are shocked. Look to congress , the president can’t do much when conservatives have betrayed him time and again.”

Worth repeating !

President Bush led us to VICTORY in Iraq.

President Bush protected us since 9/11 and we did not have a terrorist attack in America since then.

President Bush led our brave troops to destroy 2 terrorist regimes in Iraq and Afghanistan and freed 50 million people.

President Bush led our troops to destroy Al Qaeda in Iraq and Afghanistan.

President Bush lead our troops to kill and capture tens of thousands of terrorists including the vast majority of Al Qaeda leadership.

President Bush cut our taxes.

President Bush appointed two great conservative Supreme Court Justices and many conservatives federal court judges.

President Bush is the most pro-life President since Roe Vs Wade criminality has been established.

President Bush signed a law to ban late term abortion.

If not for President Bush great and strong leadership we would have surrendered to the terrorists long time ago and the world would be living the new Dark Ages.

God bless President Bush. God bless our brave troops. God bless America.

I’m not trying to “split the difference” here but I really do accept part of what each of you are saying.

If we think about all the Presidents we have had in our history and all the likely ones that we might have from the current crop of politicians, I do think that George W. Bush has been one of the best we could have had on SOME of the War on Terror issues. There are lots and lots of pols of both parties who would have settled for taking some symbolic steps after 9/11 and who would have been far less aggressive at making America safer and showing that jihadist groups and regimes could be crushed. Yet, we still have a looooong way to go, but that would be true now no matter who was POTUS these past 8 years.

However, the continuing lack of border security truly is appalling beyond description for any POTUS.

On many other issues, especially on domestic, economic, and budgetary issues, I think that Pres. Bush has been far too liberal and socialistic, though it is amazing how much liberal propaganda portrays him as some troglodyte conservative.

Yes, there were clear signs in his 2000 campaign that we were getting a “compassionate conservative” with some bad liberal ideas on education, big govt., etc. but guess what, the choices were extremely limited! Certainly Albore was not a reasonable alternative, and neither was John McCain. We don’t often get a choice worth making ala Ronald Reagan.

Most of the time we are stuck choosing between the RINO socialist and the Democrat socialist.

Agreed.

History will be far kinder to President Bush than his current detractors are.

President Bush may very well be the last US president who effectively and strategically preserved the world from the wave of Islamofascism which threatens the worlds energy supplies , with the help of Russia.

bush has effectively prevented the formation of an axis of Fascist Islam nations which would have plunged the world into a Dark Age.His work may yet succedd orf it may only postpone the process. We failed to do this with Europe in the 1920s and 1930s, largely because of liberal A$$ HATS like Joseph Kennedy on Aviator Lindberg, and that whole class of elite Ivy League idiots.

Bush saw history and acted. Obama denies history and seeks more peace in our times without knowing how to do it, an idiot. But America must now discover that truth herself, as she has already begun to do with the Chicago scandels now ongoing.

To recall a famous phrase, most of the time what we are offered in politics is not a CHOICE but an ECHO!!

Both parties are trending much too socialistic on economic issues. The Mediascum intimidates all but the most principled conservatives into backing more and more socialistic policies and one-world UN-globalistic b.s., because that is how any politician gets praise and good coverage from the Mediascum.

Anyone who deviates from liberal socialistic norms is treated as a pariah.
