Yes Ive read that before. Thanks anyway. I'm sure you have.
I'm also sure you'll thank me for pointing out that 99.99% of the time it's impossible to be a conservative and disagree with The Cato Institute simultaneously.
You may also thank me for pointing out that it's impossible to be in favor of removing any impediment to pure democracy formed by the framers of the Constitution and also be considered a conservative in any meaningful sense.
Finally, you are most welcome.

Is this bozo related to Georgie? If he is, I think it’s time to “junk” him! In fact, go ahead an “junk” him anyway. I don’t need morons screwing around with MY Constitution. He needs to stick with pondering his genitals and knock off this kind of BS. There is a reason for the Electoral college.

But thanks again for you keen insight.

The Republican Party faces a demographic shift in the nation that will be very difficult to overcome. Primarily Texas, a state that by 2024 if not 2020 will not be a battleground state but instead a Democratic state.
And without Texas, the GOP has no chance to win a national election with the current EC system.

Why would the absence of the Electoral College affect the Republican nomination process I was only speaking of the general election.

The lefties have always wanted to abolish it. They figure anything that is decent, fair and good for the people of this country should be gone.
What it does is give the traitors the right to steal which they have been doing.
What should be changed is the method some of the judges are being elected.

Once Obama and McCain give amnesty to those 20 million illegal aliens that are already here, I don’t see the GOP ever winning again no matter what we do. It’s banana republic time!

Here’s something to chew on:
If the national vote was close, you would have to hold recounts in EACH AND EVERY state and territory!
The Electoral College makes for fewer recounts, if nothing else.

Ive seen it argued that junking the electoral college might actually take the massive power of the big left wing cities away.......Imagine New York City, LA and Chicago, not being the entire voting block of their entire state.
The most efficient strategy without the electoral college is to rack up massive percentages over 51% where the votes are....the top metropolitan areas. Getting 89% of the vote in New York and Los Angeles would overrule lots of 51% votes in rural areas.
This would mean pandering to urban voters to run up scores.
If this ever happens expect to see people in rural areas get really angry and expect to see lots of tractors and pickup trucks in Washington.

folks: the EC is about small states vs large states, not Republicans vs Democrats. Abolish the EC and Obama wouldn’t talk about “tax cuts” and McCain wouldn’t even try to get the conservative base with Palin.

According to the Constitution, the Fed is to guarantee to the states a republican form of government, The first falf of this was destroyed with the 17th Amendment. The second half would be destroyed by eliminating the electoral college.
We not only need to keep the electoral colloege, buyt we also need to repeal the 17th Amendment.
To: rabscuttle385
*Instead, he and John McCain devoted more than 98% of their television ad spending and campaign events to just 15 states which together make up about a third of the U.S. population.*
And if the EC was abolished, they’d spent time in even fewer states.
Do people even think anymore before the type or publish crap like this up?
