Electoral College meets to declare Obama victor 7 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Never mind the November 4 presidential election -- Monday was the date that counted as the Electoral College convened across the United States to choose the next president.

In the arcane, indirect procedure used to select a US president, the 538 electors tallied their votes in state capitals in line with the results of last month's election won by Democrat Barack Obama.

Few states require the electors to abide by the popular vote. But if all goes to plan, Obama will end up with 365 electoral votes to 173 for Republican John McCain.

Amy Bunk, director of legal affairs and policy at the Office of the Federal Register, said no major problems had been reported -- but a handful of members of the public....

Yeah, I know. The media is disgusting. They might make a good foundation soil for the old liberty tree.

That was today? Oh poo. Each and every elector that voted for him deserves every bad thing that will happen to them for the rest of their lives.

We need some big $$ to bribe all the postmasters to “mis-place” some ballots.

“Few states require the electors to abide by the popular vote.”

Unfortunately, No State requires its Electors to confirm the “eligibility” of a Candidate. Nor is there a Federal Law requiring State and Local Governments forcing “other States” to promptly send “Elector Requested” documents. Nor are Universities required to release their entire files, on a Candidate, to the Electors.

actually, all we need is a single judge to allow one of these cases to be heard. at which point, 0bama’s defense would be requested to show the vault copy.

this is why ALL these lawsuits have been dismissed without being heard. that in itself should show you something. all these judges, and none of them tries to resolve the issue with the most common sense approach.

just goes to show how the judges are all lefties. find a right leaning judge and get this case before him/her... then MAYBE there would be hope of the US Constitution

Well, I guess I can add to the list..., in regards to dealing with the issue of the qualifications for Obama being President of the United States...

Bush and the Bush Administration wants nothing to do with this issue, Vice President Cheney wants nothing to do or say about this issue, McCain and his previous campaign wants nothing to do with this issue, Governor Palin wants nothing to do with this issue and is looking forward to working with Obama, the Republican Party wants nothing to do with this issue, even Rush Limbaugh wants nothing to do with this issue, many other conservative websites want nothing to do with this issue, many here on Free Republic want nothing to do with this issue — and (of course) — the Democrats want nothing to do with this issue, along with Obama wanting nothing to do with this issue. Even the FBI wants nothing to do with it...

And we saw that the Supreme Court wants nothing to do with this issue. To that we now add, that the Electoral College wants nothing to do with this issue...

I wonder how long it will be before “some” will get the idea that *no one* wants anything to do with this issue (that’s “no one” who has the ability to do something about it, and not a reference those who simply post about it... LOL...)...

So..., people, when will we start working for laws that require the Secretaries of State (of the various states) to vet candidates for meeting the requirements of their position (like the “Constitution” for example... :-)...). *This* is the area that we need to work on.

This “Obama issue” is a *dead horse* that a lot of people are beating here. Work on the *future* not the “dead horse” issue...

It isn’t actually a dead horse. We can use it to get those laws into place..... and drum roll please.... Obama will have to show the damn thing to get reelected in 2012. He will either have a significantly better forgery by then, or he will try to ignore the laws, or he will find some reason to step down. Any which way, it will be entertaining and destructive to the Democrat party.

Either the people sitting on the various Obama documents are laughing the butts off, or they are scared to death that they will be exposed and sent to jail or worse.

I’ll buy Alaska.

I somehow think those people will fight to the death, if they were sold off. It is one of the last great bastions of old style American freedom.

Please read some history of Alaskans at war such as during WW2, Alaska was invaded, the US Army had no intel on fighting in Arctic conditions and hired native hunters to teach our troops, not to mention they led them on retaking US soil that was occupied by the Japanese.

I can’t quote figures but I think about 95% of Alaskans are armed, and armed for bear.

I have and I have seen several documentaries of the Aleutian battles. Amazing.

I have only been to Alaska once over a weekend, but it is a great place. Very much worth fighting for.

One of the things I love so much about Sarah Palin is that she is symbolic of our tough pioneer past. Smart, hard working and no nonsense. She would have made a great president.... alas, we are stuck with a candy donkey with big floppy ears, a penchant for lying and was likely not even Constitutionally eligible to be president. :-(
