Pro-Life Rick Warren to Give Invocation at Obama Inauguration
CBNnews ^ | 12/17/08 | David Brody

Posted on 12/17/2008 10:53:08 AM PST by NormsRevenge

Pro-life pastor Rick Warren will give the invocation at President-Elect Barack Obama’s inauguration. It makes a whole lot of sense. Even though Warren and Obama disagree on the life issue, they do see eye to eye on many social justice issues. This move is also classic Obama because it is a signal to religious conservatives that he’s willing to bring in both sides to the faith discussion in this country. Obama has never shied away from that.

The benediction will be led by Reverend Dr. Joseph E. Lowery. The Civil Rights leader seems to be the perfect pick on such an historic day in this nation’s history. Watch Reverend Lowery preach with Barack Obama watching here.

The full program is below: (by the way, The Brody File was not asked to take part in the ceremony. I wanted to read some of the "Best of The Brody File" blog entries but they said thanks but no thanks)

I really don’t know how I feel about this—my gut reaction is it is wrong for Warren to participate.

Hussein has done nothing for someone who cares about protecting the unborn...in fact, he has promised to work tirelessly to ensure more babies in the womb are dismembered and destroyed.

Why would Rick embrace such an opportunity?

Ever since Warren spoke about the government of Syria in a positive way, well, actually BEFORE that, I was less and less impressed with him.

I did read his “Purpose” books—church and life—and both were interesting. Seems he has become a bit too, oh, I don’t know...not my cup of tea, I’ll say.

Let’s just leave it at that for now.

Jesus would certainly have dinner or meet with Obama. However, scripture doesn’t support the idea that He would participate in a political activity that makes evil look good....

Bingo.

2Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

2Cr 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

2Cr 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

2Cr 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you,

1Cr 10:20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

1Cr 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.

1Cr 10:22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

Sorry I couldn’t have participated more...interesting discussion.

As I understand it, Warren is being blasted by his fellow christians, and being blasted by the left (they don’t want him at the party either, because he is pro-life and not for their gay agenda). So much for him picking the ‘popular’ position.

I didn’t watch the Saddleback conference. Here in Iowa, this all started 2 years ago. To see McCain and Obama come out of the whole process...sad.

Our times will get better. We can blame the world, but I think the church is the one to fault. God gave us His best, we haven’t done well with it for a while.

Maybe we need a good crisis to get back to what is important...

I went to your blog to read about the 'Rick Warren at Inaugural'...

..but is your response ..'I'd do it but they wouldn't have me back'.. your total imput on this...(which is sufficient really :)

Is there more?

You see, I have no doubt they will extend an invitation to Warren again, because I believe his will be PC to the nth degree.

And yours wouldn't.
