Investigators say they believe 64-year-old Paulette Locklear was beaten to death outside her home Tuesday afternoon after confronting a man who was trying to break in.
Julio Cesar Ramos, 45, is charged with first-degree murder in Locklears death. Ramos, who is from Honduras, has been deported from the U.S. several times and is in the country illegally, said Debbie Tanna, spokeswoman for the Cumberland County Sheriffs Office. Ramos told investigators he is homeless and unemployed., Tanna said.
Cumberland County sheriffs deputies responded to Locklears home on the 1200 block of Wilmington Road after she called 911 Tuesday afternoon to report someone was breaking windows and trying to enter the house.
Deputies found Locklears body when they arrived at her home.
Ramos was taken into custody at the scene, according to an arrest warrant.
The exact cause of death has not yet been determined. Locklears body was taken to the State Medical Examiners Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
Ramos is being held at the Cumberland County Jail without bail and is scheduled to make a first appearance today at 2:30 p.m. in the jail courtroom.
Don’t confront someone breaking into your home unless you are well armed.
Tall tree, short rope. These situations are also why I never investigate trouble on my land w/o a friend to accompany me. My friends are named Herr Sig, Herr Sauer, Mr. Colt, Mr. Winchester, Mr. Remington... you get the idea.
illeagal re-entry to the US after deportation should be a capital crime.
“Ramos, who is from Honduras, has been deported from the U.S. several times and is in the country illegally....”
Meanwhile, two border guards who shot a drug dealer in the ass, rot in jail!
Our government!....doing the job most idiots would not do!
...another story that should be sent to every Senator and Congressman in DC.....BY THE THOUSANDS...shut down their email till they act, then the switchboard. UNTIL IT MAKES NATIONAL NEWS!!
Apparently the only way to resolve this 'catch and release' nonsense is to execute them upon capture.
Now it’s time to deport him in a box.
Oh, well that's okay then...
I agree but I don’t even want them in our jail.
Apparently the only way to resolve this ‘catch and release’ nonsense is to execute them upon capture.
I agree...once the bear knows where to get a free meal....
It MUST stop!
My wife and I recently watched Waitress, a clever and sweet little film written and directed by Adrienne Shelly. Shelly was A VERY talented lady who also played a supporting role.
She was senselessly MURDERED in her NY apartment on November 1, 2006. Her body was found hanging by a sheet from a shower rod by her husband. She was 40 and left behind a 3 year-old daughter who will never know her real mother.
A 19 YEAR OLD ECUADORIAN AN ILLEGAL WHO SHOULD NEVER HAVE EVEN BEEN IN THE COUNTRY IN THE FIRST PLACE (THANK YOU CLINTON AND BUSH) CONFESSED TO HER MURDER.
They are killing 25 of us every day.
IT WILL STOP WHEN THE MORONS IN WASHINGTON GET AS SERIOUS ABOUT THE ILLEGAL INVASION AS THEY ARE ABOUT HARASSING NATIVE BORN CITIZENS AT THE AIRPORTS.
(AND, YES, I INTENDED TO SHOUT BECAUSE IM MAD AS HELL AND NOT GONNA TAKE ANY MORE OF THIS CRAP!)
How about you???
Do you suppose this madness might have ended years ago if one of Bushs daughters had been a victim of one of the millions of illegals hes allowed in here to kill the rest of us? Obama has promised to turn the borders into one-way turnstiles marked ENTER while HIS girls will be safe at Sidwell Friends.
Of course, any illegal attempting to do so would most likely be taken out by a well armed SS detail.
Ive been a regular at local congressional town hall meetings for a few dozen years and noted that starting around 10 years ago, the majority of those there were angry that nothing was being done about the illegal invasion.
Why are we still waiting for the clowns in Malfunction Junction who can produce convoluted legislative proposals to line their pockets or deliver pork back home and ram it through in the dark of night to secure our national borders?
Perhaps YOU should get on over to those congressional town hall meetings and raise some serious hell before YOU die at the hands of someone who ought not even BE HERE!
We have enough indigenous criminals. WE SURE AS HELL DONT NEED TO IMPORT MORE.
We have got to change our Justice system. We should have a one room prison cell when someone commits a Crime put him/her in the one room prison then take the one who was in there outside and shoot him/her and so on.
My question is: when will law and justice be the norm again???
A problem no one is willing to fix. Need to deputize Police, Game Warden, Fire Chiefs, Parking Meter Cops, Marshalls, Sheriffs, Highway Patrol, FBI, Secret Service, to enforce 100% (all) of the immigration law, 100% of the time. If I were Governor of Texas, Rick Perry, I would put OFFICERS in Laredo, and ask for a valid Drivers License, Proof of Insurance, and Properly registered vehicles. Most border vehicles neither pay taxes here nor there.

treason.
More blood on the federal govt. and it’s titular head.
Bump for later .

It is illegal to cross the boarder without complying with our immigration laws. Anyone who does that is a criminal. An immigrant is someone who obeys the law.
Oh well, we have cheap lettuce.
But... isn’t it common knowledge that Bush has “kept us safe since 9/11” ??
You definately do not want to forget Mr Mossburg.
Let Ramos walk off the exit ramp over Honduras.
Crimmigrant.
Just doing what your average American is unwilling to do.
Build the Fence. Put the jobless to work building it.
In the past 50 years, my USofA has been destroyed by politics and illegal immigration. No one seems willing to do the job they signed up to do. Everyone’s afraid of “hurting someone else’s feelings” all the time.
Legal immigrants who encourage illegal immigrants should have their green cards rescinded. Citizens who do the same should be given a time out and fined heavily.
And here is another attempt at murder that failed at of all places at VFW Hall.ST. JOHNS Authorities have charged a 21-year-old man, who they said was living in the U.S. illegally, with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing early Sunday during a dance at a rented VFW hall.
Ricardo Vasquez Orbera and three other men, all of whom authorities say have immigration violations, were arrested by Clinton County deputies soon after the stabbing, which happened at about 12:45 a.m.
Orbera, who lives in Ionia, was arraigned Monday in Clinton County District Court.
He also is charged with possession of cocaine.
The victim, who authorities identified as a 34-year-old Wheeler man, was in good condition Monday at Sparrow Hospital.
The VFW hall, located on U.S. 27, just north of St. Johns, was being rented for the dance, officials said.

He sleeps on the floor by the bed.
“Put the jobless to work building it.”.....
There’s the Hope and Change I believe in!
Well, when the people take the law into their own hands again. Our system anymore is an utter joke and our experiment with trusting police and lawyers to 'protect us' is quite the failure. They steadfastly REFUSE to enforce the law against illegal aliens. Unless we enforce the law ourselves it will not be enforced. Plain and simple.
How horrible. That woman should have had a gun to protect herself, instead of a telephone.
“But... isnt it common knowledge that Bush has kept us safe since 9/11 ??”
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, no one is supposed to mention that.
I emailed my Senator and Representative with the web address of the article and the article since it was short.
“My question is: when will law and justice be the norm again???”
When we quit electing idiot politicians and start demanding a government for, by and of the people.
