BAGHDAD The jailed journalist who threw his shoes at President George W. Bush has asked for a pardon for what he described as "an ugly act," a spokesman for Iraq's prime minister said Thursday.
Muntadhar al-Zeidi, a correspondent for an Iraqi-owned television station based in Cairo, Egypt, could face two years imprisonment for insulting a foreign leader. He remained in custody Thursday night.
"It is too late to now to regret the big and ugly act that I perpetrated," al-Zeidi wrote in a letter delivered to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, according to the prime minister's spokesman.

Sadly, so true.
Tough guy now crying like a little girl. You had the gonads to throw the shoes in front of the cameras to appease your lefty friends, be man enough to take your punishment you gutless coward.
Yeah, Bush would pardon him.
Agreed about Ramos and Compean unfortunately. As far as the “journalist” is concerned, a pardon in this case might not be so bad for us in the long run. Especially if President Bush calls for it himself.
Water Boarding does work.... hum
Hey now, he had a jailhouse epiphany, yaknow... and as it sounds, a good arse whuppin’ too.
add on 30 days clearing brush at the Crawford ranch.
Typical Muslim. No honor. They attack when your back is turned, and then whimper on their bellies and beg for mercy when they are captured. He bragged that he had planned the attack for months, but now that he has learned he will get two years in an Iraqi prison we are supposed to believe he's suddenly remorseful? Sheesh... what a loser.
The amazing thing is that he is a hero to many Arab Muslims. They actually admire his shameful behavior. A culture that admires cowards IS a culture of cowards.
I'll wager a million dollars that is true.
He didn't hesitate throwing the second shoe, either. Most normally-adjusted people would suddenly think, What the heck am I doing? if they had a similar momentary lapse of reason. Not that particular IslamoRageBoy.
Now he's crying like a little schoolgirl. Hilarious!
I'm just so glad for the fantastic response by President Bush to simply laugh at the guy! :-)
Were I President Bush, I would ask the Prime Minister to remind him (Muntadhar al-Zeidi) of what would have happened to him had he thrown his shoes at Saddam, and then just let him go.
Pardon him on the one condition that he must stick his head through a hole in a plywood sheet while 500 people in George Bush masks take turns throwing their shoes at him.
Maliki should tell him to write a public, unconditional, and unqualified letter of apology to Pres. Bush, to be published in newspapers in Iraq and America, and that he would read on TV. Nothing should be offered in return, but I am certain that Bush would accept the apology and request his release - and that Maliki would comply.
Hang him upside down by his feet, then whip his feet a thousand times with a cane. Then his request for forgiveness would sound genuine.
