“I’d always read that she was unfairly tarred by Nixon.”

She was. Just like we “unfairly tar” Pelosi today. ;)

EPA..”an agency that has done more harm to America.” So true!

But again, the times and congress was so stacked against Nixon, and the literal survival of the nation was at risk — so I view some of his missteps as expedience.

Regardless, I think he was great in that he preserved the nation long enough for a guy like Reagan to come in and be a truly great titan and strenghen our freedoms for the subsequent onslaughts of dems and rinos.

It may have already been mentioned, but Joe and Jack Kennedy gave their support (at least gave $$) to Nixon in that Senate race. Of course, they were still center-right in those days.

Felt's Watergate antics made him a weasel.
I don't know why he got in trouble chasing the Weather Underground. Too bad they didn't have the Patriot Act in place back then.

But I liked President Nixon, even with his faults.

Oh I see; Nixon's a terrible guy because you can't throw your excess trichlorethylene down your well? You really miss those rivers catching fire every once in a while? Miss the Spotted Owl barbeques? All those Love Canal folks were just wimps?

Yup, you're a real conservative, alright!

I hear you. I agree. And then there was the vacuum left in Cambodia which saw half it’s population slaughtered (2 million humans).

The left was responsible for upwards of 3 million deaths as a result of cutting off the funding of the Vietnam War. And why did they do that? “They wanted the abuses by the United States to end.” And when the slaughter took place as a result, there wasn’t one word of remorse.

Can’t tell you how I despise the left of that time.

The removal of Richard Nixon was a coup d'etat of an elected President of the United States.

Nice a well to the point in regard to this still painful episode. This brought back to me as I read the publicity of a film. I believe Frost/Nixon. This I will not pay money to see, or to avoid expletives, in front of my liberal spouse, if it is ever shown on television. That petty snob, David Frost- "Mr President, the American people are entitled to know". Presumptous man that he is.

A little balm here. For it is on FR that I get notice of these valuable books. I will trot off to Chapters/Indigo (Coles) in Canada, hotfoot to order this book.

I wonder if those two dreary men will be dragged out once again- Woodward and Bernstein? A Freeper suggested to me that when they die, the liberals will have a taxidermist stuff them, for posterity. (laughs).

I’m looking at a “Nixon - Now More than Ever” button, although I don’t quite have the guts to wear it in public! I imagine that Nixon and Reagan, after taking on and defeating the Communists, are spinning in their graves at the election of one. And compared to what Obama has in store for us, I would even take Nixon’s domestic policies. Also remember, looking at some of the stupid rules that the EPA and OSHA has now is different then looking back at the severe damage that had been done and needed to be cleaned up:

“The Illinois River was for years the recipient of Chicago’s waste flow and that of numerous industries and municipalities up and down the river. In the 1960’s, about the only fish that swam in the Illinois’ waters were carp, gizzard shad, and goldfish. But, much like Lake Erie, which caught on fire in the 1960’s and was called the “Dead Sea”, the Illinois River began to clean up and support a diversified fishery. Pollution regulations and conservation practices helped start a comeback in the 1970’s that has continued to this day. The 1980’s fishing for sauger (the walleye’s cousin), walleyes, and other gamefish became very good. And now, this former cesspool is an angler’s dream!”

“Can’t tell you how I despise the left of that time.”

I’ll just wait a couple years after Obama has abandoned Iraq in similar fashion and see how you react.

I wonder. If we had kept our word with South Vietnam and it had stayed free. Would the Soviets have reigned in on their other exploits - such as Afghanistan. Which led to the rise of the Taliban, which.... well, you get the idea.

Hillary gets a thousand files straight from the FBI--no problem.

Bill gives the ChiComs our missile secrets (Schwartz-Armstrong) and our warheads (Wen) but Trent Lott (fearing being outed as a queen) wimps out.

LBJ lost a war and stole six trillion to buy votes but no problem.

Now we have the DoperIslamoCommieKenyan because GOP losers like "open" primaries and a candidate who lays down in the street for the bus to run over him.

Mark Felt should have done the honorable Admeeral Booorda.

Politics is war. Republicans think it's a dinner party.

"Daniel Ellsberg (born April 7, 1931) is a former American military analyst employed by the RAND Corporation who precipitated a national political controversy in 1971 when he released the Pentagon Papers, a top-secret Pentagon study of government decision-making about the Vietnam War, to The New York Times and other newspapers."

"As a response to the leaks, the Nixon administration began a campaign against further leaks and against Ellsberg personally. Aides Egil Krogh and David Young under John Ehrlichman's supervision created the 'White House Plumbers,' which would later lead to the Watergate burglaries."

So what is Daniel Ellsberg up to these days? Well, for one thing, he is an endorser of the Revolutionary Communist Party's "World Can't Wait" movement!...

From the website of the Revolutionary Communist Party (revcom.us or rwor.org) :
"Create Public Opinion, Seize Power: We are preparing minds and organizing forces for the time when there is a major crack in the system, whenever it comes and wherever it comes from: an opening that makes it possible to bring the future Revolutionary Army of the Proletariat (R.A.P.) into the field and wage a revolutionary armed struggle that actually has a chance of winning. And we have said that building our party itself is the most important part of organizing forces for revolution. This is true now, and it is true looking forward to the creation of that future R.A.P. and the waging of that armed struggle.":
