Bush springs drug dealers, leaves border agents to rot
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | December 23, 2008 | Bob Unruh

President George W. Bush today added a convicted methamphetamine dealer, a cocaine distributor and two marijuana suppliers to the list of drug operators he's pardoned while in office, bringing his total of drug suppliers who have been pardoned or had their sentences commuted to 36.

He's also pardoned more than a dozen thieves, seven embezzlers, an arsonist, several mail thieves, a man who violated the Neutrality Act and eight Thanksgiving turkeys, but there's been no clemency for U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who were convicted of shooting at a fleeing drug smuggler.

Andy Ramirez, of Friends of the Border Patrol, long has been involved in the Ramos-Compean case, and said the questions just start piling up.

"First and foremost is the question that has to be asked, 'Why is the president dug in so deep' on Ramos and Compean?" Ramirez said. "Look at how many members of Congress have sent him letters, and have held hearings.

"You really have got to start to wonder … does this doper (in the Ramos-Compean case) lead to somebody really big?" he said.

Joe Loya, the father-in-law for Ramos, said he, his daughter and grandchildren were "devastated" by word that Ramos and Compean had been denied clemency on the latest list of presidential actions.

"We were praying for a miracle. We just don't understand where the connection is when drug smugglers are getting pardons and commuted sentences, yet two agents who are not criminals, who were just doing their jobs, are in isolation," he told WND by telephone as he traveled to visit his son-in-law in jail on Christmas Eve.

The only proper redress for these two BP agents is pardon, expungement, full back pay, reinstatement, and apologies from all the sorry a$$ judges and prosecutors involved.

This travesty should be righted, immediately by W.

I predict that GWB will not trump the judgment of a Texas jury, no matter how unjust the verdict was in this case.

If Obama wants to purchase some political capital, he'll issue the pardons.

Makes Bush look guilty of something, makes conservatives look like fools, draws even more people, but especially Hispanic citizens, over to his side.

I'm 45, and have never been so disillusioned with a Republican president in my life.

If I was a border agent, I’d quit my job right ****ing now. No way I would risk my freedom trying to keep people out that my boss clearly wants in. What a ridiculous farce.

His time in office is not over yet..perhaps he is saving the most important pardons for last? We can only hope.

I seriously doubt that President Bush will pardon either Mr. Ramos or Mr. Compeon. His ties/loyalty to his former aide, Johnny Sutton, run too deep.

These guys have young children. Having their dads home for Christmas would have been the way to go. And the news cycle on December 23 assures that only the hardcore are paying attention.

They're not getting out. I want to know why.

More prayers for Ramos and Compean. They must be pardoned. How can the Prez let them rot in prison? I don’t get it. Has to be political corruption keeping them in prison.

“W won’t compromise his soul to be popular.”

Well, if W’s anything, he’s an expert on souls. Remember how he looked into Putin’s soul and saw a good man? If he looks into the soul of Ramos and Compean, what do you think he sees, being the expert he’s proven to be?

RE : hope W gives them a last minute pardon. Scooter Libby too”

You are dreaming. GWB is a sickening failure, a disaster. We were fooled (I was once a believer too). The past two years since 2006 he was damaged and all he has cared about is trying to get some praise by media after he is gone. And if he has to sell out to democrats, socialism, UAW, MSM, illegals and mexican drug dealers, so be it. Wake up Bush-bots!

Yeah...quit in a rage of protest on the cusp of an economic Depression where there are a hundred more physically fit men or women begging for the opportunity.

“Yeah...quit in a rage of protest on the cusp of an economic Depression where there are a hundred more physically fit men or women begging for the opportunity.”

Yeah, right, we’ve heard often about how difficult it is to recruit and train the number of new BP agents needed, especially when excuses were being for one failure after another to add the number authorized. Now you say there are a hundred ready to replace any one that leaves, Lol.

Are you posting from the WH basement.? Do you think anyone really takes you stuff seriously?

Beats going to Federal prison for upholding my sworn oath.
