One of the deputies returned to the area this morning and found Bobby Lewins body in a field northeast of his SUV. Adams said it is unclear why he ventured into the field, as his home was north of the crash site.
When caught in a blizzard, the number one rule is: Stay in your vehicle. You can survive a long time in your car...and not very long out in the open. A couple more hints if you get stuck on the road in a blizzard: Remember to clear the snow from around the tailpipe when you run your car to keep warm...open a window just a little while the car is running. And, throw an extra blanket or two in the trunk before taking off on your journey. Leave them there all winter.

God rest the souls of those in both articles. They were just trying to earn a living.

Conditions in Wisconsin have been truly horrible. Sunday was one of the coldest days you could ever imagine. Below zero Fahrenheit with a sustained 30 mph wind. It was a -30 wind chill.
It doesn’t take much to lose rational thought in that kind of cold.

Better yet, put in a box with a decent sleeping bag and complete cold weather clothing, plus food, water and fire starters.
If you get the clothing at a thrift store (it doesn’t have to be attractive) you can get everything you need to survive for a week or more for little more than $100.

I used to deliver newspapers from my vehicle. When it is cold out you need to have a blanket on your lap just to drive around with the windows open.
I forgot my hat one day (totally bald) and thought I would freeze to death before I finished.
