As homosexuality and liberalism increases so does the odds of a new “Dark Age” in which crime, plagues and poverty will be the norm.
Would rather not have seen this tonight. :(
Can’t we be upbeat and uplifting on Christmas Eve?

Sad to see The John Birch Society appearing at FR.
Excellent argument. It reminds me of the technique used in Summa Contra Gentiles—arguing from the opponent’s own suppositions.
I’m not a JBS fan, but the article is good—actually not what I would have expected from them.
Frankly, I think you should be kicked/banned from FR for that remark alone.

You do, do you? Whatever for? Stating my opinion about an extremist organization?
If I am banned from FR for speaking my opinion, that’s fine. Why don’t you try to get me banned?
All the very best in the New Year!

In your opinion, the John Birch Society may be “extremist”. Many others on the left view it as extremist, as well. Many on the right do not.
Since you ask for an explanation regarding my comment, allow me to give you one. From reading the article at hand, or the monthly publication “New American”, an extremist position is not indicated. What is seen, conversely, is an irrefutably conservative position. Hence, your posting is simply a diversionary and contentious non sequitur designed to provoke, vice a simple statement of your opinion (about which you repeatedly bleat in your defensive response quoted above).
In short, if you have an opinion in future, make it one worth sharing.
You may not like the content of my opinion, and that is your right, but you are in no position to tell me what kind of opinion I may share. My comment was not about the content of the article posted. I provided a gut reaction to the past stances of the organization with regard to race relations. My understanding is that the organization is well known to have been against civil rights for blacks in the last century. If they’ve changed, then I apologize. If not, I stand by my feeling that it’s sad to see someone post from that organization on FR.
Amazing, but what the atheists claim to be the “right thing to do” almost always seem to be Christian social values and not the values of pagan societies. While there are civilized pagan societies in existence today, it is entirely to Christian influences. Japan, for instance, was given a choice it couldn't refuse.

If you like flinging around potentially libelous statements with no explanation given, advice will certainly be supplied on what you can do with your opinions and how you make them.

Your explanation above (and, charitably, it is at least an explanation) is specious, at best. Civil rights debates involving JBS — your assertions notwithstanding — took place roughly two generations (40 years) ago. A simple read of the article, or of the publication, or the website, would have reassured your gut (or whatever it is you react with) that the JBS probably does not hold a negative position on race relations. To be even more specific, the airing of your feelings brought nothing to the issue being discussed.
If you like making a fool of yourself by posting the emotional products of your intestines, that’s certainly your prerogative. Nevertheless, it’s a habit I’ve seen most frequently indulged in by trolls, DU members, and leftists. Which are you?
You’re right; I should have not said anything. Apparently, I am out of date. Sorry.
That is, I was prejudiced against the organization and operating from its reputation of yes, 40 years ago. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
And Merry Christmas to you!
(I’m not a bad sort, really.)
Merry Christmas to you, my friend. We all need to come together as conservatives during these difficult times. The Birchers were smeared by the American communist party and the media. Many of the things said about them were lies.
This is an excellent piece, written by a fine conservative writer praising Christianity. And we need all the friends we can get right now.
