Christmas Dinner Causes Global Warming

Christmas Dinner Causes Global Warming By Noel Sheppard Created 2008-12-25 12:31

First it's Christmas lights [0], now it's Christmas dinner...causing global warming.

Yep. People who cook more than their guests will eat and throw the food away are destroying the planet.

I'm not kidding.

ABCNews.com in Australia reported [1] the following absurdity on Christmas Eve:

Wasted food at Christmas time is now being highlighted as an environmental problem.

Jon Dee, the chairman of Do Something, says gases from leftover food rotting in landfill are 20 times more potent than the carbon pollution from car exhausts.

Mr Dee says there are simple ways to avoid over-catering at Christmas and damaging the environment.

"Australians waste more than 3 million tonnes of food every year and of course a lot of that food is wasted at Christmas," he said.

Okay, I'll bite: if "gases from leftover food rotting in landfill are 20 times more potent than the carbon pollution from car exhausts," why are we worried about carbon pollution from car exhaust? Or from coal-fired power plants?

Now, add in all the methane being released from cows, bogs, and wetlands across the planet, and the fact that methane is a signficantly more powerful greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, and hasn't this article pointed out the extraordinary absurdity in the entire anthropogenic global warming myth?

First, I was told I was starving Ethiopeans.

Now I'm killing the planet.

Well good. I hated this planet anyways.

I’m fixing prime rib for Christmas dinner. There won’t be anything leftover to rot in a landfill.

I don't know about the Aussies wasting food but Christmas dinner in our household means thanking the Lord for the blessings and not having to cook for a week since we eat all the leftovers.

I say another total lunatic bunkum ( from a group called Do Something? Ha!) study.

I hate to send this on Christmas Day, but the Radical Left has gone from merely destructive to absurdly destructive.

What will they think of next?

This idiot belongs in a landfill. Merry Christmas Freepers!

“First, I was told I was starving Ethiopeans.”

Which was always a crock. If you didn’t spend your money on uneaqten food, you’d have just spent it on something else. The starving Ethiopeans wouldn’t have gained in either case. Unless, that is, you decided to spend your earnings on starving people, which is always an option. However, people don’t work very hard or consistently to benefit others. Sorry, that’s how the world works.

I heard an ad on a local radio news station (serious ad) about not passing gas inside the home as it’s dangerous to newborns and pets. I couldn’t remember the web site unfortunately. I was curious if they mentioned “global warming” as a reason...

You are all wrong. Another post on this forum says we will be losing all our money and the food stuffs will disappear. So eat up because in a few months there will be no food and the Earth will right itself again.

If I pitch it over the back fence, there won’t be anything but shards of foil in the morning.

Obviously not enough people with a back fence to pitch it over.

Actually, humans living on earth are a major clause of the so-called global warming...assuming global population of 5 billion

5x10^9 x 120 watts per human = 600 billion watts
5x10^9 x 400 BTU per human =2000 billion BTUs

http://irc.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/pubs/cbd/cbd102_e.html

“The human body maintains a basic minimum rate of heat production at about 250 Btu/hr during sleep, the heat equivalent of about 75 watts, and about 400 Btu/hr (120 watts) when awake but sedentary. As bodily activity increases, the rate of oxidation of food, with its attendant release of energy, must increase. The level of heat production for light work will be about 650 Btu/hr (190 watts), the extreme value for heavy work, about 2400 Btu/hr (700 watts).”

Hope that helps.

What about breathless reporting about global warming? Does that cause global warming? If I kill an environmentalist, can I claim his carbon allotment?

When is the knuckle dragging public going to start to realize the fraud that is anthropogenic global warming? I get a sense that the pendulum is starting to swing in the direction of sanity. I can't be sure because it's just a feeling that I have.

I've always thought AGW (anthropogenic global warming) was BS but most of my friends and relatives believe in it. They are "sheeple" as one radio talk show host would say. The propaganda behind AGW is so great and the people who are invested in it will never admit that they are wrong. It would take glaciers consuming the Norther United States to change the minds of these people. And I'm not even sure that would work for some.
