I don’t quite get into the Intelligent Design camp. If all the details were designed, there wouldn’t be so many design failures.
But the concept behind natural selection is flawless. It works in nature and it works in captalism as well. Those who perform well and adapt to changing conditions prosper, and those who can’t, fail. It rewards success and improvement. It virtually assures that mistakes will be punished and, over the long haul, improvements will continue to be made.
Outside events can interrupt the process. A flood, an asteroid, or some other catacylismic event, perhaps even manmade. But all that does is reset the stage to see who or what can adapt best to the new conditions.
I think the process was designed by God. But I think the process is so good, that it runs iteself.
thanks for your reasoned posts.
I have only one thing to say to those who rant about how “scientific” intelligent design is: Gene therapy.
None of these virulent “anti evolutionists” would give up their medical treatments, even when shown how evolutionary theory plays a significant role.
And to throw a little salt on the popcorn, how about them gnostic chapters of the bible that tells us a very different story of Mary Magdeline.
