Yea, here we go again Carlisle, there was no reason for the policmac to unload 6 shots in that little 55 year old woman, he could have wounded her if he felt he was in danger, I call it murder, but he is a worthless cop , so he'll get away with it, anyone else would be in jail for murder, but that is Nichols County, and they uphold worthless cops.
I love those sort of comments. “Couldn’t he just shoot the gun out of her hand like on the TV?” LOL
I always get a kick out of the people who think that LEOs should shoot to wound someone who is holding a gun.
These people have seen too many movies. “He should have shot the gun out of her hand!”
She has apparently never even shot a deer. People don’t die quickly like they do in the movies. At least deer don’t.
Let me get this straight ... a woman appearing to defend her property - presumably the horse - on land on which she owns is shot for her efforts?
There’s more to this story and I don’t think the cop is an angel in it.
Methinks that there is more to this story than is reported here.
Even though she was “evicting” her nephew, tell me...
Who goes to buy a horse at 15-minutes to MIDNIGHT?!?
Tuco’s Law (abbreviated)... “if you’re gonna shoot, shoot.” I’m not saying it was a justified shoot but once the officer made up his mind to fire, shooting until the target is down is SOP.
Good shoot. Glad the horse wasn’t hurt.
It appears that a man went to a house with his family to buy a horse. He was threatened with a gun held by an angry woman. She wouldn't listen to reason.
If he had not been a cop, this wouldn't have been nearly the issue. He was off duty, based on the fact that his family was with him.
I wonder what everyone would be saying about him had he been an accountant or doctor or a farmer instead of an off duty cop.
VERY poorly written story.
I don’t think this cop wanted the lady to live. She, albeit the victim, would have been a talking witness and his future would have been cooked for good. With her out of the picture, the spin began at 11:45 that night.
Scott Hill is a department veteran of more than five years. Kentucky State police are investigating the incident which happened just before midnight in Nicholas County on a horse farm.
KSP says Hill was asked to come to the farm by the nephew of 55-year old Brenda Pollitt. Pollitt allegedly told the nephew he needed to move out of her house, and take his horse with him.
Hill owns Texas Star stables in Williamsburg. Pollitt's nephew had apparently done business with Hill in the past and asked him to come take the horse. KSP officials say Hill brought his wife and daughter and a trailer to the farm. That's when Pollitt apparently confronted him with a gun.
Hill apparently feared for the safety of his family. He shot Pollitt with a handgun he had with him, which was not his service revolver.
He went to buy a horse at midnight? and took his wife & daughter?
It’s possible that someone is lying here, and cops frequently suck, but on the face of it this sounds like a 100% justified shoot.
For some reason we don't know she continued to threaten this deputy and that ultimately lead to her being shot," Murrell said.
BS...
Of course they know why there was a heated dispute, they just are not going to reveal why.
For some unknown reason, Pollitt produced a pistol and then ordered the men to unload the horse from the trailer, Detective Sgt. Jeremy Murrell said.
"For some reason we don't know she continued to threaten this deputy
Anyone else notice the pattern?
"For some reason", "For unknown reasons" "She just appeared with a gun".
This is all BS...
They know exactly why a very heated dispute developed, they just are not revealing why.
Why they are not revealing what led to the dispute, seems to be the big question here.
He is therefore guilty of murder UNDER COLOR OF LAWIf Scotty Hill were not a LEO, he would be charged with Manslaughter.
Boone County Kentucky, 15 minutes from my doorstep, is redneck central. Anyone encountering a police person from anywhere in Boone County should assume a shoot first and create the evidence second approach by them. The only good thing found there is the Creation Museum.
Isn't that time of night a bit odd for buying a horse?
He was trespassing. He did not have her permission to be on HER property.
