Driving a car is a PRIVILEGE, not a RIGHT. The Constitution guarantees NO ONE the right to get behind the wheel. With that understanding, this entiren long-winded argument collapses to the ground. I say that as someone who practiced 33 years in the US Supreme Court. This is a lot of effort for no legitimate purpose. Congressman Billybob

You are wrong.Just because the law says(and I disagree with it)that driving is a privilege doesn't collapse this guys arguments. How can you say that depriving a person of their 4th and 5th amendment rights, their Miranda rights and the other rights he cited simply because the crime is DUI is ok simply because driving is considered a privilege? Robbing banks is neither a right or a privilege but a suspected bank robber is still allowed the protection of the constitution and at least they pretend he/she is innocent until proven guilty, nor is their a right to road block and check cars just on the chance someone might be a felon driving around the country side.

This guy is spot on, I don't care how long you worked with the Supremes, you are wrong.

Shall we call for a vote at this time?

Sure you can, and demonstrate the essential problem associated with a pure democracy that our Founders warned against.

Some people don't like facts.

I can't help you with that.

I was watching people spewing that “operating” versus “driving” bilge go to jail thirty years ago.

Then you should have done something to intervene.

Leave a night light on. Maybe that will help.

I will be happy to defend even you when the time comes.

Amazing, no?

I got to this point via realism. If I take one drink and drive, I could be arrested for DUI.

Way to surrender there, Patriot.

Did you know that you can now be convicted of DWI if you admit to having consumed any prescription or non-prescription drug, or for just being tired or fat?

Congratulations!

Having a LEO arrest a drunk driver is better than having him lynched by the family of someone he's just killed. Peace and due process.

Are you referring to the "drunk" or the LEO?

...thanks to MADD - you or a loved one was not a victim of a drunk driver.

Gag me with a spoon.

Willful ignorance to hard to overcome.

Not as difficult as totalitarian tendencies.

The drunk. You may recall a recent incident of a car plowing into a crowd. The crowd nearly beat the driver to death before law enforcement rescued him.

Try the ACLJ or Pacific Legal Foundation.

This should not stand.

Actually phil is right. I am an idiot. He’s an idiot. You’re an idiot. Everyone is an idiot. Our elected officials are all idiots.

The difference is all 3 of us as conservatives understand that and don’t want to give our neighbors (idiots in government) any more power than necessary.
