DEBKAfile's military sources report that Hamas does not propose to put its entire 15,000-strong army in harm's way against the expected Israeli military invasion. It will confine its resistance to small pockets and sabotage and let Israel troops occupy most of Gaza Strip territory.

Assuming the incoming force will stop short of conquering Gaza City and put it to siege, Hamas planners believe this siege force will be Israel's Achilles heel. They propose to wear it down over weeks by nocturnal guerilla forays from within Gaza City and force an inconclusive end to the conflict.

And that's the plan. Israel does NOT want to take over Gaza, it will turn the Strip over to Fatah. Fatah's been wising up lately, and realizes that the world will shower it with boatloads of free money if it will only make peace with Israel. All Israel needs to do is to cripple Hamas' leadership and ability to fight, then it can ferry Fatah troops over from the West Bank to "reclaim" Gaza.

Once Fatah takes over, they distribute food and medical supplies to the Palis, they become the legitimate government over there. They sign a two-state treaty with Israel, and forswear any ties with Iran. Everybody in the region is then happy, except for a few remaining Hamas-Hezbollah types that can be taken out by Arabic governments that distrust Iran as much as we do.

Fatah is no different than Hamas ideologically. Fatah wants to see an end to the Jewish people just as much as Hamas does. The only difference between the two is that Fatah says nice things about Jews in English before they shout for "Death to the Jews" in Arabic.

We need to accept that there will never be a 2 state solution. The Palestinians live their lives just to kill as many Jews as possible. For proof, I cite Hamas' electoral victories in Gaza prior to its coup. The people in Gaza voted for whoever would kill as many Jews as possible. Fatah lost because it wasn't killing Jews fast enough. Hopefully if Israel doesn't chicken out and finally defeats Hamas for good, another group of Palestinians will simply rise up to take its place. That's why Gaza needs to be wiped out.

And when this is over, most of Hamas will be dead, a good number of innocent people will be dead, and several hundred Israelis will be dead or wounded. If this is what the enemy plans, then don't do it. Keep up the air attacks a while. It's not as if Hamas has any anti-air defenses except women and children!
