Secret ballots would not only be guaranteed but required by Missouri law under a proposed constitutional amendment pitched yesterday.
State Sen. John Loudon, a Republican from Ballwin and co-chairman of the so-called Save Our Secret Ballot, or S.O.S., initiative in Missouri, filed for a citizen initiative petition that would put the amendment on the 2010 ballot. ....[hope 2010 is not too late]
The measure is essentially a pre-emptive strike against the Employee Free Choice Act being proposed on the federal level that, if approved, would allow workers to forgo the election process to unionize.
Obama co-sponsored and voted for the Employee Free Choice Act.

Missouri was one of five states to launch the S.O.S. campaign yesterday. The group will need to collect more than 151,000 signatures to put the measure on the ballot. Judging from the early response he has heard, Loudon doesn’t think he will have a hard time finding Missourians willing to sign on.
I hope this passes. I’m all for unions, but not for the union’s right to enslave their members.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the “Employee Free Choice Act” (an Orwellian name if there ever was one) modified to specifically override any state laws that would bypass its provisions. That is, it would ban secret ballots in labor elections at the state level.

I wonder if the democrats and the unions would mind if I drive up to Missouri and sign that pettition and then return to vote for it?
Filibuster?
The only possible reason for objecting to a secret ballot is so that unions can manipulate the outcome of the voting.
If anyone knows where I can sign in central MO (Columbia), ping me please.
They would be better off making Missouri a right-to-work state.
