[GOP]Talk About Out of Touch [Magic Negro-gate](NYT Conservatives-are-Racist Hurl-a-thon)
The New York Times ^ | December 31, 2008 | The Editors

Posted on 01/01/2009 3:37:43 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

The Republican Party paid a steep price for race-baiting in the presidential campaign. Remember the ferocious backlash against the California Republican group that produced a racist newsletter depicting Barack Obama on a food stamp, surrounded by images of fried chicken and watermelon?

Then there were those two congressmen who were rightly excoriated for condemning Mr. Obama’s candidacy in the language of the Jim Crow South — one describing him as a “boy” and the other as “uppity.”

We thought after all that — and, oh yes, losing the election — everyone in the Republican Party leadership would have figured out that race-baiting alienates young, minority and all reasonable voters.

Clearly, not everyone has.

Chip Saltsman, a veteran political operative, is pushing his candidacy for chairman of the Republican National Committee. He distributed a compact disc containing a parody questioning President-elect Barack Obama’s racial authenticity.

The song — entitled “Barack the Magic Negro” — by a writer often heard on the Rush Limbaugh radio show, has split the Republican leadership. One faction thinks the parody is just fine and seems prepared to defend it to the death. The other is condemning it and shuddering at its political consequences.

What a tempest in a teapot. If President-elect Obama isn't offended by it, why is anyone else, except to use as a club against the GOP?

The magic negro song perfectly describes why people voted for the Messiah. People show the Messiah as an articulate, smart, and clean black man who would serve as a great role model for his race.

Did the New York Times actually intend to overlook Joe Biden's "clean and articulate" endorsement and Bobby Byrd's expression of support for "that Obama boy"?

Well, yes. Of course they did...

The fact that Obama's reference to his own grandmother as "a typical white person" in a racist context wasn't objectionable to liberals proves that they hold a similar view of white persons, as a group.

Excepting their very own selves, of course. They, being superior beings, recognize that black persons are, in fact, inferior and require affirmative action in order to compete with racist white persons.

Fey!

“Furthermore, I am a prisoner of my own biography: I can’t help but view the American experience through the lens of a black man of mixed heritage, forever mindful of how generations of people who looked like me were subjugated and stigmatized, and the subtle and not so subtle ways that race and class continue to shape our lives.”

You missed it because it was done by a GOP women's group.

It's much harder for the media to smear women, even GOP women.(outright, that is)

So they just didn't report it.

"Well, yes. Of course they did..."

Which was of course the whole point of the parody to begin with...

It was Biden who did say obama was what? "bright, clean and articulate"?

And wasn't it the black "leaders" who were questioning his bonifides at that time...jackson, sharpton etal?...

And wasn't it a black liberal editorial writer from the LA times who DIDcall obama a "magic negro" that guilty whites could vote for?...

Thats the whole damn song folks...

A parody like pure comedy requires a hint of or a whole lot of truth to succede...

Okay all together now...

Barack the magic negro lives in DC....

What idiots

I think most of the white folks who voted for him wanted to assuage their white guilt for the institution of slavery.

Maybe they like the hole their party is standing in and want to dig it even deeper. That’s their right, but it does the country no good...the Times conveniently neglects to mention, as Fox News did the other night (Brit Hume's "Grapevine", of course) that the Magic Negro term was first applied to Obama in 2007 by some gay, black newspaper columnist (whose name I forget) as a sarcastic dig at O's attempts to play to white folks while trying to conceal his allegiance to black interests - but then nobody ever expects the Times to rise to the excellence in journalism that Fox news regularly attains......

When I first heard Limbaugh play it, I thought it was a great shot at demonrats and their double standards regarding race. However, the reaction and anti-Republican airtime the msm and the demonrats get with no negative consequences for themselves once again shows that the GOP is profoundly stupid.

If the GOP had greater access to the hearts and minds of the masses and knew how to use it to counter the efforts of the demonrats and the msm, things might be different, but they don't have a clue or know where to find one.

If anyone can instruct the Republicans on basic media savvy and sales psychology, please, for the sake of the Republic and all it stands for, help them!

The first thing the party -- and conservatives -- need to recognize is that the MSM is a sworn enemy. They will never be "on our side".

Thus, the party (and conservatives) should feel free to openly attack the MSM in turn. And ignore its propaganda.

It's not a question of "handling the media". It's a matter of recognizing the media as an adversary and joining battle with them.

On our side is the public's opinion of the media -- rating them one step lower than lawyers. Let's use it to our advantage. Run against the media.

Here's a clue: They aren't. It's only a big deal in PC-ville.

The NYT ownership, on the other hand, might profit by consulting the continuing referendum represented by the Times's continually-declining ad and newsstand sales, and getting a clue that most of America couldn't care less what a bunch of gay New York Times editors think. Or you, Pinchy.

MSM and Libs will now become champions of the powers of the executive branch.

News flash: They invented the "imperial presidency" back in the 50's, when they were waiting impatiently for a chance to push the Republicans and that doddering old Ike out of the way (after all, all he ever did was liberate Europe and destroy the most powerful and hateful military empire the world had ever seen), so they could smooth the way for a young liberal prince like, say, Jack Kennedy.

Richard Nixon took the powers the toadies like James Macgregor Burns and Arthur M. Schlesinger had oohed and aahed over when they were Kennedy's to wield, and shoved up up the liberals' you-know-what. Sideways. Tricky Dick gave everyone a five-year clinic on what happens when you act like a slavish dork and give vast, unaccountable, criminal powers to the Executive.

Nixon was one of our best Presidents for keeping everybody honest and teaching young people a lesson. He made the liberals puke up their own garbage. They're still resisting the lesson and hoping for another Imperial Prince to come and reintroduce them to sweet subservience.

I suspect that all of this can be traced to Soros’ Media Matters:

http://mediamatters.org/items/200703200012
Tue, Mar 20, 2007 6:41pm ET
Latching onto L.A. Times op-ed, Limbaugh sings “Barack, The Magic Negro”

The fact that it is “newsworthy” again, leads me to question the timing of this “controversy”.

The Stalinists in the media are again revising history by pretending that it was Conservatives and not the REVEREND Al Sharpton who coined the term and applied it to BO.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_the_Magic_Negro

That there is a December campaign usage of the song cannot be the sole reason for NATIONAL coverage of the “controversy”.

Not totally clear on what you’re saying, but, you’re right, the idea is that the Left is so hypocritical that their so-called history and poly sci. is determined by who’s in the White House

Lets expose the Democrats for the racists they are and call Governor Blagojevich to offer praise of his appointment of Roland Burris to fill the seat left empty by Barrack Obama.
