This will quickly fade into the far background. I suspect even as I type this, Obama is at the gym preparing for another pectacular photo shoot to mesmerize the masses and the leg-tinglers in the media into forgetting about the latest scandal in a presidential administration that hasn’t even been sworn in yet.

A pectacular photo shoot minus the pecs and plus the moobs (man boobs), that is.

"THE BILL RICHARDSON SCANDAL
Earlier today I blogged that the Washington Post published a disagracefully biased story. So I thought I would present the other side - a story that nails Bill Richardson - usually an untouchable in mainstream media, and one of Barack Obama's intended cabinet members:

. . .

Grand Jury Investigates Richardson Contributor
By Carol D. Leonnig
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, December 16, 2008; A04

A federal grand jury is investigating whether a financial firm improperly won more than $1.4 million in work for the state of New Mexico shortly after making contributions to political action committees of Gov. Bill Richardson (D).

The probe focuses on whether the governor's office urged a state agency to hire CDR Financial Products.

The probe is in a highly active stage at a time when President-elect Barack Obama has chosen Richardson as his nominee for secretary of commerce, according to two sources familiar with the investigation.

The grand jury in Albuquerque is expected to hear testimony today from several key witnesses, including officials at Richard's political action committees and bankers at J.P. Morgan who worked with CDR on the state's investments.

The inquiry is part of a long-running nationwide investigation into "pay-to-play" practices in local government bond markets.

*snip*

Committee Chairman Rick Homans was Richardson's economic development secretary at the time. He is now Richardson's taxation and revenue secretary and has declined to comment.

. . .

This can't be good. Certainly not for Bill Richardson and certainly not for Barack Obama, who already is dealing - ineffectively and dishonestly - with the blogojevich scandal in his home state of Illinois.

But as troubling as the situation is for Mr. Obama, I bet I know one major Democrat who is happy to see this go down. I won't mention names; only that she is the Presidential candidate Richardson sandbagged when he tossed his support to Obama. See if you can guess......."

~~~~
I'm about speechless ........ who could've ever predicted such a stinking mess from this "well-oiled, most efficient political machine?" What's/who's next ??
He wants to spend more time with his beard.
Are you implying that Bill Richardson has a "toe tapping" problem?
Actually, Bill just wants to start a new career as a Horatio Sanz impersonator.
Fear of confirmation? Will the O-child resort to recess appointments for his more controversial picks? Will the media be a willing accomplice? (no need to respond to that last question, we all know the answer).
Richardson has ignored reporters’ questions on the federal investigation, while a spokesman says he’s confident the relationship was entirely appropriate and the governor expects state employees to cooperate fully with federal investigators.
Richardson has been in public life for a quarter century and this is the first I’ve heard of his integrity being questioned.
Oh?
Maybe this will jog your memory.
Bill Richardson Caught In Clinton Undertow
Media Monitor | By Reed Irvine and Cliff Kincaid
| August 21, 1998
Ambassador Bill Richardson apparently lied when he said at his recent confirmation hearings that a UN job he offered to Monica Lewinsky last year was to fill an existing opening.
He had claimed that the position offered to Monica was an existing slot, though it later turned out not to have been so.
Secondly, Richardson described the job as low-level. Monica was offered $30,000 a year. The senior-staff person, Paul Aronsohn, who later filled the slot that Richardson said was the same one offered Monica, was paid more than double what Monica was offered, plus he had high-level experience in areas such as nuclear disarmament and the UN dues controversy.
The third main area of controversy had to do with what city and section the job entailed. Richardson said the job had to be in New York, though he had transferred Aronsohn to Washington from New York several weeks before testifying to the committee.
An after-the-fact memo once the scandal broke shows how standard procedure was ignored in offering this job to Monica. Aronsohn was transferred from the political to the press section, contrary to a State Department Inspector General recommendation - in an effort to try to create a credible scenario.
Senator Murkowski wrote the following in his letter to the president on August 7: “A news story published in the Washington Times today contains information in apparent contradiction to Ambassador Richardson’s sworn statements to the committee. I have an obligation to look into these serious allegations,” unquote. Stay tuned.
Yep, it's pretty sad when you're not up to Zero's ethics standards.
Apparently he actually WAS, or he wouldn't have been nominated in the first place.
Still, in the propagnada of the dominant LeftMedia, the standard for corruption will also be the satanic Richard Nixon.
It would be nice for about a Million people to show up on inauguration day and dump billions of tea bags into the Potomac. Certainly newsworthy on that AHMEM... Historic day.
