For a moment I thought it was Art Bell, and that upset me because I hadn’t reordered my 2009 hand crank radio.

I don’t listen to Art, but I did get a CC Wi-Fi radio for Christmas!

Griffin Bell was one of the high points and most able public servants from the Carter Administration. And his son, Griffin Bell, Jr., is just as fine a gentleman and lawyer as was his father.

I once called the Justice Department with a question. The first person I spoke to couldn't answer it and said to hang on a minute they would get someone who could. My call was transferred and answered by....Griffin Bell. We chatted a couple of minutes and I think that I was so dumbfounded that I forgot what my question was. What a gentleman.

My guess has always been that he was passing by an unanswered telephone and picked it up out of courtesy.

Sorry, I saw “Carter” and “dies” in the same sentance and got excited.

Bell also defended the first President Bush when some Democrats advocated prosecuting him after the Iran-Contra pardons and he endorsed George W. Bush.

It's just as well. The weather here is horrible. Bad day for dancing in the street.
