well, besides all that, there is whole semantical angle. I mean, I could understand if it were a "cause" of concern (deep or otherwise); or perhaps a "reason" to be concerned. But a "source of deep concern" is, as you say, meaningless. It belies a complete lack of sincerity and, ironically, depth. Why? Because it's clear that, like the last democrat president, words to him are tools to use in shaping people's perception, not in communicating useful information.

Yeah, he's as smooth as a snake.

They criticize W's speech, but every word he spoke meant something, and together they meant great things ("We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them" -- this simple-sounding sentence completely reframed -- in fact, made possible -- the "war on terror" and literally brought the battle to the enemy).

If there are any honest linguists anywhere, they must be getting all up in a tizzy about 0. And by the time he's gone, they'll be tizzied out.

I feel the enept and inexperienced Obamah will govern exactly like the last Democrat.

Poll-driven policies that hurt our economy & security.

I didn't think too much when Obamah chose Hillary as SoS, but when he chose Leon Panetta as CIA Director then I knew that the Clintonistas did indeed have something on ole Barry.

Seems to me the Clinton's do have the goods as we see less change and more and more of the same.

Israeli tank shells killed at least 40 Palestinians at a United Nations school where civilians had taken shelter.

So that's what they're calling terrorists now-a-day, "civilians"? If not how many civilians died when the 40 Palestinian terrorists were killed?

calling the loss of civilian lives in Gaza and in Israel a "source of deep concern for me."

And why no outcry from obamessiah for the months of rocket attacks killing Jews? Why weren't Jewish civilians a "source of deep concern" for him?

I expect an uneven hand toward Israel, and Israel's political answer must be a hard-line prime minister during a time of liberal American presidents.

Israel's ultimate answer is "blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord."

Cast from the same mold as the McKinney family, perhaps?

Over and over again, Billy McKinney called Mitnick a "racist Jew." As Slate's Chris Suellentrop noticed, when the New York Times asked Billy McKinney to elaborate on his comments, he simply repeated that Mitnick "is a racist Jew, that's what he is, isn't he?" The controversy over Billy McKinney's comments lasted weeks. Disgraced, he resigned from his daughter's campaign. That year, Cynthia McKinney won 58 percent of the vote.

The only innocent civilians in Gaza are the ones who are acting as informants to the Israelies.

I supposed one of the many good things about the exit of the Bush administration was that phrase “deep concern” would left on the trash heap of useless phrases. Do they teach this kind of junk at Harvardyale?

“the Clinton people he has surrounded himself with never made a decision”

Do you remember when Hitlery called for a Palestinian state and she got creamed by the media and pundits? It’s unbelievable to me that people on FR still think Jeb Bush deserves our support. The best way to punish Bush for destroying the world is to banish all Bushes from our circle.

He gets more and more depressing.

His concern should be for the state of Israel, a haven of normality in a sea of vicious zombie Muslims-—many of whom this country continues to let in and support.

I heard an ABC radio commentator (Linda Albin) the other day say that concern for Israeli civilians is misplaced because Israel knows it is disproportionately killing civilians when it attacks. She gave some stats about 60 or 70 percent of the casualties being women and children. "And not all the men are terrorists" she said (words to that effect).

So, if the terrorists are in a civilian neighborhood taking advantage of the proximity of civilians, then Israel should absorb attacks intentionally targeting its own civilians, because Israel knows there are civilians near the Hamas terrorists.

In other words, Israel should give away free attacks.

Is that insane logic, or am I missing something?

If they followed the same logic of "civilian death proportionality" 60 years ago, they'd have had to kill around 20 million Germans.

“”We’ve got plenty to say about Gaza, and on January 20, you’ll hear directly from me,””

Quite regal of him, using the royal ‘we.’ He’s waiting until he’s officially in to start showing his true fascist self.
