Hollywood "Closet" Conservatives Coming out???
Foxnews.com ^ | Jan. 5, 2009 | SE Cupp

"A once-timid group of social outcasts is emerging from the shadows in Hollywood. If the past year is any indication, Tinseltown may have to get accustomed to the loud presence of a growing minority..."

This is great! Maybe we'll see some more conservative movies like "AN AMerican Carol", and the culture will become more conservative, that is, if these actors speak clearly about conservatism. We all know how people, especially my age 13-20 are engrossed with Hollywood nonsense BS. Let's go Conservatism!!!!

More like Truman Democrats than conservatives but I'll take it none-the-less.

I hope we don't have more films like An American Carol. It was poorly scripted. The plot did not present the argument logically. It relied on sterotypes rather than refutation.

We can do better than that.

I remember an old B grade movie actor who was rather conservative a while back.

It will be a long ladder to climb in Hollywood, with it being basically run by secular Jews. Too many actors will still pander to the likes of leftist Jews to get jobs and movie parts. At the same time, after a dose of Obamunism socialism, the change may come quickly -—

Won’t change overnight.

“Maybe we’ll see some more conservative movies like “AN AMerican Carol”,

...”An American Carol” was awful. Kevin Farley was terrible. We need more conservative/patriotic based movies that are better written and more widely viewed. “Carol” was a flop.

Scream loudly folks. Remember what we’ve been told for the last seven years, dissent being patriotic and all that. We want to be as patriotic as possible, don’t we?

Considering I (and hopefully most others?) equate conservatism with freedom I would hope that ‘coming out’ for freedom would hardly be viewed as courageous.

I know the reality is different but that is a commentary on the opposition, not us.

Good to hear, but...

"Maybe we'll see some more conservative movies like "AN AMerican Carol",

So any movie parodying idiotic libs is considered a "conservative movie"?

All I want in a film is competence, not politics. If it's pushing a partisan/political point of view, it's more often than not a dud.

Ah, correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't Truman Democrats the Dems who, though they disagreed with you, still loved America?

I'd respect 'em.

Interesting that they mention Dennis Hopper in the article. He admitted that he voted for Obama because Palin was on the ticket.

Republican, maybe. But not conservative.

Liberals can shoot their mouths off (and do) whether they make correct statements or totally groundless claims... and it's OK.

On the other hand, Conservatives can't say squat and if they do-it’s a hanging offense, no matter how accurate or fully corroborated it is.

All six of them are vastly outmunbered. They are like the bearded lady, or the man with three eyes at the circus. Maybe Steven Spielberg and some of the other lefties will make up a fancy stage somewhere and they can put them on display. But we need one more so they can at least have one for each day of the week.

We can do better than that.

Go for it. In my opinion, American Carol was very funny, and an amazingly courageous effort by the filmmakers to buck the leftist Hollywood tide.

The fact that it failed will make the next conservative film that much harder to find financing.

If they keep making movies like American Carol, I hope they stay in the closet. I bought that movie and suffered through it. I can’t believe that this is the best conservatives can do.

I liked An American Carol. It was intended to be a comedy, a spoof, and a mockery on the credibility of Michael Moore and on those points it succeeded masterfully.

As someone who lives in Los Angeles, I can tell you conservatives do have their work cut out for them in Hollyweird. Almost ALL of the major studio bigwigs are substantial Democrat contributors. Sometimes you run across someone like Jerry Bruckhemier who writes checks to the Republicans, but those guys are few and far between.

Trust me. Hollyweird is one of the most PC parts of the country. Especially on social views. Express any attitudes on being pro-life or pro-traditional marriage, and you are immediately considered a social outcast or a neanderthal.

Let me give you just a small example of how PC this place is: There is an extremely popular Mexican restaurant that has been around forever (Sharon Tate and her unfortunate house guests had their last meal here) called El Coyote. Now get this: The daughter of the owner contributed a $100.00 check to the Yes on Prop 8 (marriage is only legal between one man and one woman). For this reason alone, ghey activists rioted in front of the restaurant, nearly closed it down, and are boycotting the place and are encouraging others to boycott it as well.

My fellow conservatives, we REALLY DO have our work cut out for us in Hollyweird. I really do admire actors like Jon Voight who have the cojones to buck the powers that be out here. For any relatively young and unknown actor, they have to tow the PC line to get anywhere in Hollyweird. Trust me on this one. This is a one-party town—as much as BHO’s Chicagograd.

Jon Voight on Israel

One who really gets it, and says so.
