My daughter is considering being a film writer and she is conservative. Alas, in my critique I must admit that I don’t have the skills to do better.
I saw it but I didn’t like it. IOW, I helped support it. I agree with you that it was a courageous effort.
Yep.
"Carol" had its moments, and I'll buy the DVD. IMO, it didn't live up to its hype. It didn't create enough buzz for return trips to the theatres. I was hoping for more along the lines of "Blazing Saddles", a movie that could not be made today, thanks to political correctness.
it's the same with Christian films and books... we don't need writers to create Christian films and literature... we need Christians to create good films and literature...
we don't need writers to create conservative movies and literature... we need Conservatives to create good movies and literature...
conservatives and Christians who go into the film industry can have a greater impact on society/culture than a pastor... we need more of them as journalists, film makers, musicians, writers, etc...
“We can do better than that”
What’s this “We” business? You making a movie? “We” don’t do much except sit around in front of our computers, throwing rocks and grumbling. “We” need a uniter. “We” don’t protest liberal causes, “We” don’t get behind a cause. “We” need to take some lessons from the left on how to get our way, or just STFU and stop maligning other’s efforts.
I will concede that I am not a screenwriter. However, I do influence and mold some young minds. I don’t pretend that I don’t have an agenda. I do. And part of what I do is encourage conservative Christians is to strive for excellence. I’m not going to pretend that something that is poorly done is excellent just because it has an underlying viewpoint with which I agree.
An American Carol was not a good movie. I hope that there are others who do a better job.

Yes we can do better, but it was funny.
It took enormous courage to make the film in Hollywood, to attack the sacred cows of the leftist establishment.
Plus it had a lot of funny stuff in it.
