Most polls show over 70% of Americans support allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military.

Should it be put to a vote?

BTW: Elections have consequences.

I think the results of most polls also indicate that most people are brain-dead.

What polls. I’ve never seen a single poll that says that. Please post, it might be an interesting read.

Well, then, let them wear a scarlet letter to indicate their open gayness and serve as a warning to others to give a wide berth. It would also be like tags applied by rescue triage groups in a major incident. To get treatment for wounds would require special protective gear for those medics attending which could delay immediate attention.

That’s it — let them serve REALLY openly with some sort of designation on their uniforms. Then everyone could get on like Harvard chums and wait to take their showers or sleep with string and cans draped around their area to trigger an alarm or have a designated watcher so others could get some sleep. It could work.
