Tina Fey’s Angry Internet Commenters Actually Exist

During her acceptance speech during tonight’s Golden Globes, Tina Fey made some time to tell some of her harsh “internet critics” to “suck it.” The bit was pretty funny (you must watch it here).

“If you ever start to feel too good about yourself, they have this thing called the Internet! You can find a lot of people there who don’t like you! I’d like to address some of them now! BabsonLacrosse, you can suck it. DianeFan, you can suck it. Cougar-Letter, you can really suck it ’cause you’ve been after me all year. And to my husband, Jeff, I love you. Thank you very much!”

Well apparently Gawker did some research and found out that those “anonymous internet critics” Fey mentioned on stage, believe it or not — those users are actual posters on the LA Times’ Envelope Awards website.

There is a show here in Canada that she is on about working for NBC with Alex Baldwin and it is a show about how to be a tight ass democrat with anorexic and melt downs issues and a cast of two dimensional stereotypes. It's hopped up and hyped up and predictably trying to be fashionable lest anybody notice. It's as nauseating as the day as long — in Canada the days have been extremely long — and the TV station that airs it is now is actually very much in tune to this fluff piece.

Jackson spoke out against Democrats during the 2008 general election campaign, particularly presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama and Minnesota U.S. senatorial candidate Al Franken. In October, she appeared in a National Republican Senatorial Committee ad with other celebs poking fun at Franken, then followed up with an interview on The O’Reilly Factor, where she called Obama a “communist.” [2] In the weeks leading up to the presidential election, she also called Obama “marxist”, “racist” and said he “resembles the anti-christ”.

When Obama won the election, she wrote on her blog: “Voters in our last election did not base their decision on facts or knowledge, but on hype, emotion, peer pressure, and racial fervor. It didn’t help that the liberally biased media blocked Americans access to the truth. (Fox News is the only news show that even resembles journalism.)”

I guess the only reason I find it amusing is I see terrible things about all kinds of celebrities said on the Internet everyday. Far far far worse things than what was said in those posts about Tina. Yet the only major celebrity (that I'm aware of) to publicly whine about it just shot to stardom by spending two months making fun of someone else. Someone else whom by all accounts she was nice to when face to face.
