Big Brother's new target: Tracking of all firearms
WND ^ | January 13, 2009 | Drew Zahn

U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Ill., is hoping to pass a firearm-licensing bill that will significantly rewrite gun-ownership laws in America.

Among the more controversial provisions of the bill are requirements that all handgun owners submit to the federal government a photo, thumb print and mental heath records. Further, the bill would order the attorney general to establish a database of every handgun sale, transfer and owner's address in America.

The bill claims its purpose is "to protect the pubic against the unreasonable risk of injury and death associated with the unrecorded sale or transfer of firearms to criminals and youth."

By all means join the NRA.

In most cases "better late than never" works.

Not so sure, in this case.

Oh ... and you may want to think about arming yourself too.

I hear there may be some laws passed restricting your accessibility to do so.

In the lingo of the ‘hood, one day we’ll read a news story about somebody ‘puttin a cap in da azz’ of Bobby Rush, and he’ll turn into a black James Brady, just you watch and see.

And what behavior do black panthers exhibit?

Violence toward whitey. Now, what demographic do you think this firearm ban is targeting?

“Never Forget, even for an instant, that the one and only reason anybody has for taking your gun away is to make you weaker than he is, so he can do something to you that you wouldn’t allow him to do if you were equipped to prevent it. This goes for burglars, muggers, and rapists, and even more so for policemen, bureaucrats, and politicians.”

I think that is really funny considering that Rush went to jail on a firearms charge.

He already is a black James Brady, though he didn't need to be shot to get there. (not to disparage James Brady)

You know, I am a natural born citizen of these United States. I grew up in a land of freedom, a country that placed very few constraints on my opportunity for success. I did a hitch in the US Army during that pathetic, failed expedition into Southeast Asia. My wife and I raised three wonderful kids out here in the heartland, and they’ve all grown into productive, focused adults working toward their own success.

However, in the past 15-20 years or so (since Bush 41, anyway) we’ve been on a downward spiral that appears to be accelerating. We’ve seen the face of radical islam brought to our very shores. We’ve watched as the political class has pushed their socialist agenda on the country, with the apparent agreement of the multiple generations of entitlement minded sheeple. We’ve witnessed near constant assaults on our rights as espoused by the founders of this grand experiment. Our voices have gone unheard in the great discourse of the time...more government versus less government.

Sadly, in recent years I’ve given more and more credence to the notion that there MUST be somewhere in the world that still values individual effort, personal responsibility, and the freedom of each person to carve out their own success.

It will take just a couple of idiotic notions like this one to drive many of us to find that place, or create it, and start over...

It’s time to refresh the tree of Liberty, IMO.

The fictional character (like John Gault), Alexander Hope.

The bill claims its purpose is "to protect the pubic against the unreasonable risk of injury and death associated with the unrecorded sale or transfer of firearms to criminals and youth."

The majority of "problem weapons" are stolen in the first place. Does he think those with stolen weapons are gonna record any transfers or sales?

Basically, you'd have to say yes. Rep. Rush was once convicted of some sort of unspecified "illegal gun possession" ~ either for possessing an "illegal gun", or that he wasn't allowed to possess guns, or something.

I suspect he's trying to legalize whatever it was he did so you'd be well advised to look for a retroactivity clause in this proposal.

Selective enforcement, cries of racism when it is applied to the non-target group. Yes, there will be de facto exemptions.

I believe Bobby Rush is the same moron who sponsored HR 4040, the legislation which was signed by Pres. Bush and will take effect Feb. 10 requiring all manufacturers of children’s products to use a third party to test products for harmful substances such as lead and other chemicals. This legislation, as now written, will put hundreds of thousands of small businesses out of business.

This is the last step before confiscation, "for the good and safety of the collective", of course.

And why not? It worked for Hitler. It worked for Castro.

And with the election of Obama, we are near that tipping point where at least half the public are apathetic and brain-dead enough to accept it.

Dear Sir:
Let me say this with as much respect as I can muster. You want my guns, come get them. Oh, and bring your lunch because it’s going to take you awhile.

Thanks for the warm wishes, but no gun owner I know voted for Obama. PA (or any state) is not a monolith. Keep that in mind when bad-mouthing entire groups of people.
