Ever since the Bush Administration's warrantless wiretapping program was exposed in 2005, critics have denounced it as illegal and unconstitutional. Those allegations rested solely on the fact that the Administration did not first get permission from the special court created by the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Well, as it happens, the same FISA court would beg to differ.
In a major August 2008 decision released yesterday in redacted form, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review, the FISA appellate panel, affirmed the government's Constitutional authority to collect national-security intelligence without judicial approval.

For all the political hysteria and media dishonesty about George W. Bush "spying on Americans," this fight was never about anything other than staging an ideological raid on the President's war powers. Barack Obama ought to be thankful that the FISA court has knocked the bottom out of this gambit, just in time for him to take office.

another non-issue for the left. Concern with wiretapping mass murderers, but mum about surveillance cameras on every corner. How stupid to ignore the forest and feign concern about a few twigs.
They deliberately aided and abetted our enemies, with boots on the ground.
I hate them with a passion....I will work for a lifetime to destroy each one of them, as will my children and their children.
I like how as Obama has learned of all the top secret insider information that he’s backing off his campaign promises more every day. The media (obviously) won’t be touching that either.
Of course.. Obama will continue W’s course of action and no one will be the wiser.

Most will never know..Another victory for the whinny left. Make a big deal about it, get the dumb ass public to think Bush is bad and then when know one is watching, the truth comes out. Bush was within his rights. Most will think Bush was wrong for the rest of their life.
Bush derangement syndrome will be endemic in the left for a least another decade. This decision if it makes the news will only serve to inflame the left even further.
Its fun watching internet kooks at various sites try to spin this into ANYTHING other than a serious beat down on their oft expressed views.
Same clowns that try to say the 2nd Amendment doesn’t really ‘mean it’ in my experience.
I’m with you all the !

I thought the timing of this release was suspicous...any legal mind want to tell me why they waited five months after the fact to release this??? why not before the election??
Just plain old common sense tells you this is a necessity. It’s called “spying”...Something recognized by all nations.
The 0bama administration should monitor emails and phone calls from national security threats like The New York Times, pMSNBC, and the LA Times.
So the Slimes and its left wing allies won’t be able to call it “domestic spying” any more.
That’s too bad. They pushed this lie over and over and over.
They ripped President Bush for this while he was using it to DEFEND the people of this nation...
Now, ...ohhh!! It’s okay to wiretap... Just in time for obama to ABUSE it -far beyond what Bush was accused of, I’ll bet.
They've had the the exact same syndrome for every Republican president since the 50's.
