I'm still inclined to believe Obama never thought he'd win this time around, and 2008 was supposed to be a dress rehearsal for 2012.

I also still believe Ner0!, err, Zer0!, err, Duh!1® was "selected" by an unhappy confluence of "Mo Money" than the unfortunate Cap'n Queeg, the shadily-orchestrated meltdown of "The Economy" ( which still seems to be staggering along despite it all ) and the Ophra-ization of the masses. Aided and abetted by the dumbing down caused by Public Miseducation and too much Popular Culture, which is a cesspool of reaction shots, bumper-sticker slogans, and tits, and teeth, and asses. I'd love to think this will be so. However, I don't think there are enough people left with the courage to show open defiance, to make a difference.

We are heading to socialism, maybe worse, and the practitioners of class envy run the show. The average resident of this country couldn't be bothered enough to disengage himself from his Ipod or his Reality TV, long enough to get angry. By the time enough wake up from their media-induced stupor, O's "change" will be way too far down the road to be reversed.

Our lawmakers are spending us into bankruptcy as fast as they can. Nothing we say will reason them into reversing this course. We are in the last days (of the America we knew). Oh, that it were not so! But nothing I or anyone else say or wish is going to change where we're going.

A friend for whom I was a groomsman had a good sense of humor. When the groomsmen entered the church, the organist played “Send in the Clowns”. I suggest that ought to be O’s inauguration theme.

Free Republic once had the cpability to gather minds here to produce a full page ad for the Washington Times.

The effort was amazing to watch as graphics and words poured forth and were edited here on a thread into a wonderfully crafted piece of work. Others developed means for requesting and accepting the $25 grand to pay for it. One very capable Freeper agreed to purchase and mail copies of the newspaper with the ad.

It was truly a marvel to behold what transpired in only a few hours on line. Another time, before the Senate Impeachment hearing, a massive binder full of damning evidence was gathered printed, bindered, paid for and distributed by hand to each of the 100 Senators. No senator could ever say after the fact that he did not know there was damning evidence. As I recall, some inserts late arriving were put in the binders on the sidewalks outside the Capitol at the very last minute.

These were hand grenades lobbed into the melee. Today there is no stomach for such opposition.

Problem now, respectfully, bert, is that there is no GOP left. Opposition now would have to be opposition to the entire government and rightfully so.

Time has come to identify the problem and react accordingly. We can no longer go back to the good old days.

LOL great. Problem is there is no GOP, what has the GOP offered lately other than democrat politics? Nothing. The GOP failed to teach a philosophy and apply it. It was the right way to go, but the right side let the left run everything that counts, mainly schools, and they never even tried to stop the lies.

I suppose a new party could fill the void, but not with the GOP brand and not for a longtime, maybe never.

I did get a “charge” from your dark humor though. Desperate solutions abound.
