Obama to crowds: 'I love you back' (Wants a "New Declaration of Independence")
CNN ^ | January 7, 2009 | Rachel Streitfeld

Barack Obama's historic train ride to Washington on Saturday drew large, cheering crowds of people who braved freezing weather and gathered along the tracks in cities and small towns along the way in hopeful anticipation of getting a glimpse of the nation's next president.

In Baltimore, Maryland, alone, about 40,000 people stood shoulder-to-shoulder in the cold to greet Obama as he stopped on his way to his Tuesday inauguration.

His welcome was raucous and animated, as the sea of people cheered, waved and took pictures. Tears rolled down one woman's face as Obama spoke. "We love you, Obama!" another yelled out. "I love you back," Obama answered calmly, eliciting a roar from the crowd.

The same emotions were expressed up and down the tracks on the 137-mile journey, a trip that started in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and retraced the train ride Abraham Lincoln took on his way to becoming president in 1861. Watch Obama share the love »

As he did so often during his campaign, Obama drew upon American history in his remarks to pose a parallel to the country's current challenges. He noted the struggles of the colonials, the "first patriots," against the British.

"They were willing to put all they were and all they had on the line," Obama told the crowd in Baltimore. "Their lives, their fortune, and sacred honor for a set of ideals that continue to light the world: that we are all equal. That our rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness come not from our laws but from our Maker."

Later he said, "the American Revolution was, and remains, an ongoing struggle in the minds and hearts of the people."

He may, indeed, be on the RECEIVING END of a “new Declaration of Independence”.

I think we have to keep on posting and talking to each other. Nobody here is saying anything that is remotely threatening; we’re the ones who feel threatened, not him. But if we let them silence us, we’re going to be more than threatened. Keep making noise!

The founder’s put their lives and fortunes on the line.
Obama became filthy rich by exploiting the political process. What has he sacrificed? Nothing.

This is the messiah’s first real job.

This is a cult-like following. i did’nt believe Americans were so morally bankrupt as to cling to an absolute nothing.

This is reminiscent of the frenzy over Princess Di’s death.

Symbolism over substance.

Obama is being presented as the ultimate political/social archetypal Lincoln image. That’s quite strange in it’s social implications. Whoever his handlers are, they are totally playing into the whole scenario quite purposefully. So far, it’s been effective, but with the whole Lincoln thing, it’s more than a little over the top. Just a humble opinion.

I think most thinking people are having a laugh over the whole spectacle. The money involved alone is ridiculous. It’s at least three times what was spent on Bush’s inauguration. Of course, this obscene amount of money will never be discussed in the Washington Post. Oh, the hypocrisy.

Obama has indeed a mean revisionist streak of Islam behind all this “change” and “newness” bull crap. He also has a sort of push for a runway train excitement for all this, not unlike masturbation and jungle people batteries. Maybe he knows his time is short or meant so. hmm...

It’s like power of the pen signature, kinda cool of Clinton but at a faster and faster pace.

I thought I were harsh in my criticism of him, but I do not have a derangement syndrome as I never over admired nor over hated a politician. I fear we are naïve and seeing only the tip of the iceberg.

This guy strikes me as possibly completely crazy and stupid, deaf and dumb of the worst lawyering activist excitable flaming kind.

The quickening is not a bad thing. The faster we see this nonsense ejaculating all over, the more disgusting it is, the better for the end to be revealed. This is beyond disgusting, though, still.

I honestly think Obama IS expecting a civil war for what he has planned, because otherwise, why would he associate with people like Ayers who have no problem with the extermination of 25 million + people?

He’s a flaming massaged massager. They party on, don’t even pay attention to the GOP or here or there. They don’t care. Sadly so much government and riot, it makes us the remaining real government...

I wish it were a real party, I’d be happy for them, but somehow I am not, let alone, God forbid, jealous of them as they must think we are. It might become a very sad end, apparently.
