Spokesman for N. Korea's General Staff making TV announcement

N. Korea is about to start a calculated military provocation with S. Korea. Chia Head wants to show he is still "the boss," who expects groveling and appeasement from others. Further, he wants to isolate S. Korea while trying to cut some kind of deal with U.S., pressuring U.S. to cut S. Korea loose, or at least driving a wedge between U.S. and S. Korea, which is the long-term N. Korean goal.

I just don't see any positive solution possible here.

Not this latest provocation, the entire KFR.

Scenario one is that an all out war breaks out and NK shells Seoul back into the stone age in a matter of hours, lets loose commando attacks all over SK and essentially causes civilian deaths that could go up into the millions making Rwanda, Congo Kinshasa, or Equatorial Guinea look like a kindergarten spat.

Scenario two is that the KFR falls, in which case you're going to have between 2 and 5 million, angry, crazed, violent NKs pouring over the DMZ and the Yalu river sacking towns and cities in a manner that would do Genghis Khan proud.

This is going to be one hell of a mess, and having “The One” calling our shots in this international crisis doesn't make me feel a whole lot better.

The last time the Norks tried to mess with the Skor navy, a Skor ship turned its Phalanx gun on the Nork ship and literally cut it in half.

Horizontally.

The USN is even less nice about these things. They still remember, and honor, the Pueblo.

These limp dicks — NK communuts, Islamic whackjobs — always sound alike. “We will obliterate you! Roast your bellies! Blah, blah, blah...”.

The North Korean “navy” would be annihilated in a confrontation with the RoK fleet. The RoK has built an impressive number of modern destroyers and frigates to go with their various classes of patrol craft beginning in the 1990’s and are on their way to becoming a true blue-water force. The Northern navy’s primary claim to fame is a single catamaran-hull frigate which may or may not actually exist.

I have been trying to figure out what North Korea's problem is. I think I finally got it. They want us to take them over, so we spend lots of money rebuilding them the right way.

IE - The Norks are starving (as if that’s news) and really need to overfish the crab fishing areas in South Korean territory.

Most likely, you’ll see a replay of the same crap that happened in the first ‘Crab War’. That, plus cross-border shootings.
